On September 11, Charlottetown Police Services responded to a report of an assault near Kent Street and Edward Street. At approximately 9:30 p.m., a witness reported that a male with a knife, without provocation, had chased and knocked down a female to the ground. The female did not sustain any physical injuries and was able to seek safety in a nearby building until officers arrived on scene.
The involved were not known to each other prior to the incident. However, through video evidence, the suspect was identified and arrested nearby without incident shortly thereafter.
24-year-old Denzel McKeough was charged with the following offences:
- assault with a weapon (s. 267 CCC)
- possession of a weapon for dangerous purposes (s. 88 CCC)
- assault (s. 266 CCC)
- failure to comply with release order (s. 145 CCC)
McKeough was remanded into custody. His next court appearance is on October 1, 2026.
