On October 23, Charlottetown Police Services responded to a report of an assault near Grafton Street and Weymouth Street. At approximately 11:25 p.m., it was reported that a female suspect threatened and chased three females without provocation and assaulted one of them. One of the females sustained minor physical injuries, but together with her friends, was able to get home to their nearby residence and call 911.
The involved were not known to each other prior to the incident. A description of the suspect was provided to police, and she was arrested nearby without incident shortly thereafter.
35-year-old Teala Poirer was charged with the following offences:
- assault with a weapon or causing bodily harm (s. 267 CCC)
- criminal harassment (s. 264 CCC) – three counts
- mischief (s. 430 CCC)
- failure to comply with probation order (s. 733 CCC)
Poirer was remanded into custody. Her next court appearance is on October 29, 2026.
