On October 4, Charlottetown Police Services received call about a missing indoor cat from an apartment on Norwood Road. Based on disturbing evidence that was discovered in the laundry room, the cat’s disappearance was reported as suspicious.
Officers from the General Patrol Unit and Forensic Identification Unit attended the location, confirmed the suspicions and initiated an investigation. Sadly, the investigation led to the recovery of the deceased cat at another location.
32-year-old Robert Wayne Schurman was charged with the following offences:
• Causing animals or birds unnecessary suffering (s. 445 CCC)
He was later released and will appear in court on November 19, 2026.
