Incidents that require an emergency response where:
- There is a crime in progress or has just been committed.
- Someone is in crisis – medical emergency, an attack or assault
- There has been a serious accident.
- You see a suspicious person, vehicle or circumstance and believe they may be involved in crime.
Call 9-1-1 in an emergency situation.
Incidents that are non-urgent or life-threatening, such as:
- Noise complaint
- Reporting a crime with a delay (e.g. theft from last night)
- Reporting a crime with no suspect (e.g. theft of a license plate)
It’s also for people making general inquiries or looking for police support and resources (i.e. noise complaints, reporting thefts etc.).

The City of Charlottetown has by-laws regarding homes, yards, streets, neighbourhoods, parks etc., and specifically noise and parking, are enforced by a by-law officer.
