34-year-old male charged with robbery

At approximately 5 a.m. on August 1, Charlottetown Police Services received a call about a robbery at a restaurant on University Avenue. The caller reported that a male had stolen the till from the cash register and fled.

Less than five minutes later, with the help of witnesses, an officer from the General Patrol Unit located and arrested 34-year-old Teunis Dielis Hakkers.

Hakkers has been charged with the following offences:

  • robbery (s. 344 CCC)
  • breach of probation (s. 733 CCC)
  • failure to comply with release order (s. 145 CCC)

He was remanded into custody and is scheduled to appear in court on August 20, 2026.
