On July 19, 2026, at approximately 2:00 a.m., Charlottetown Police Services received a 9-1-1 call about an injured male running on Kensington Road and being chased by another male.
The investigation determined the 34-year-old injured male, and a 49-year-old male had been driven to a residence. The 34-year-old male was threatened and beaten with an object. Eventually, the injured male was able to escape and seek help by waving down traffic.
28-year-old Derrick Dunn was arrested without incident and taken to the Provincial Correctional Centre. The injured male was treated in hospital for non-life-threatening injuries and later released.
Dunn has been charged with the following offences:
- Assault with a weapon (s. 267 CCC)
- Assault causing bodily harm (s. 267 CCC)
- Uttering threats (s. 264 CCC)
- Careless use of firearm/ammunition (s. 86 CCC)
- Failure to comply with probation order (s. 733 CCC)
- Robbery (s. 343 CCC)
- Forcible confinement (s. 279 CCC)
He was remanded in custody and is scheduled to appear in court on July 23, 2026.
