Weapon Charges Laid

At 5:20 pm yesterday (Jan 7) afternoon, Charlottetown Police Services responded to a weapon complaint at a gas station/convenience store on Capital Drive.

Police learned that a female had been in the convenience store and had dropped a hand gun.  She picked it up, place it in her purse, exited the store and got into a vehicle and drove away.

Surveillance video was reviewed and the female suspect was identified.   The Charlottetown Police Street Crime Unit were called to assist with the investigation.   At 11:00pm last night, the Street Crime Unit located the suspect vehicle and pulled it over in the Hillsborough Park area of the City.   The female suspect was arrested and a bb hand gun was located and seized.

A 34 year old Charlottetown female has been charged with carrying a concealed weapon, possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose and possession of a weapon contrary to a prohibition order.   She was released with conditions and will appear in Provincial Court at a later date.
