Charlottetown Police Services would like to warn the public of a recent phone scam involving child support payment requests.
Individuals who are currently making child/spousal support payments are receiving automated phone calls indicating that a court case is pending and without making a payment via the automated system, the individual will face legal action that may result in jail time.
This is a scam, payment requests would not be made by automated systems, direct contact would be made by an employee of the Maintenance Enforcement Department.
