Male Charged with Drug/Weapon Offences

For the second time this week, Charlottetown Police Street Crime Unit arrest and lay drug and weapon charges.

At 2:30pm yesterday afternoon, while on patrol in an unmarked police vehicle, members of the Street Crime Unit observed a male that had an outstanding warrant drive by.   Officers turned around and pulled the vehicle over.   The male was arrested on the warrant without incident.  Drug trafficking indicators prompted Officer to seize the vehicle and later obtained a search warrant for the vehicle.

The search resulted in the seizure of 2.5 ounces of cocaine, brass knuckles, a baton, other drug paraphernalia and 2000.00 cash.

A 41 year old Charlottetown male has been charged with CDSA 5(2) – Possession of drugs (Cocaine) for the purpose of trafficking, possession of a prohibited weapon and breach of a recognizance order.

The accused has been remanded in custody and will appear in Provincial Court at a later date.
