Three Impaired Drivers Charged Over the Weekend

At approximately 9:10 p.m. on August 7, Charlottetown Police Services received a report of a suspected impaired driver. A short while later, an officer from Charlottetown Police Services General Patrol Unit located the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop. The reported signs of impairment were confirmed as the breath samples came back above the legal limit. The 34-year-old female was charged with impaired driving.

At approximately 2 a.m. on August 8, Charlottetown Police Services General Patrol Unit conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle based on a report of a possible impaired driver. While speaking with the driver, the attending officer observed the 44-year-old female driver showing signs of being impaired by alcohol. She was charged with impaired driving after failing the breath tests.

A next of kin was notified and took care and safe custody of the children. Child and Family Services were also notified.

At approximately 8:15 p.m. on August 9, Charlottetown Police Services General Patrol Unit conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle that was observed tailgating another vehicle and speeding. The 53-year-old female driver was charged with impaired driving (by drug) and possession (of cocaine) for the purpose of trafficking (CDSA 5(2)).
