Residential Break and Enter – Charges Laid

Charlottetown Police Services have arrested and charged a 30 year old Charlottetown man with Break and Enter and Breach of Probation.

On December 11th Police responded to a complaint of a break and enter into a house that was undergoing renovations.  Video surveillance lead to the identification of the suspect who was arrested Monday morning.

The accused has been remanded in custody and is scheduled to appear in Provincial Court tomorrow.

UPDATE LOCATED: Dec 17 2:00 pm – The vehicle in question has been located in Nova Scotia.  Thank you to those who reported sightings.

Charlottetown Police Services are looking for public assistance in locating a vehicle that was involved in a collision and flight from Police.

On Friday December 13th at approximately 4:45 pm Police responded to a shoplifting complaint where the suspect had left in a grey pick up truck and was seen turning from North River Road onto the Beach Grove Road, then North on the Maypoint Road.  A responding Police vehicle met the oncoming pick up truck at the end of the Maypoint Road when it collided with another vehicle and continued on towards the traffic circle.  Police turned around and attempted to pull it over but discontinued for public safety reasons.

The pick up truck’s last known direction of travel is west bound on the Trans Canada Highway towards Cornwall.

The suspect vehicle is a dark grey 2016 Toyota Tundra bearing Alberta plate CCN5560.  (actual vehicle pictured below)

The pick up should have damage on the front passenger side.

Charlottetown Police Services are requesting the public’s help in identifying the male depicted in the attached video. While on routine patrol at 3:00 am Sunday morning, Police observed a male that was causing a disturbance on Kent Street.

The male was intoxicated and disrupting other patrons of a local business.   Police arrested the male for causing a disturbance at which point he became aggressive.  A 22 year old Pownal male has been charged with causing a disturbance, resisting arrest and two counts of assaulting a Police Officer.

The accused spent the night in jail and was later released from custody and will appear in Provincial Court at a later date.

Charlottetown Police Services responded to two separate occurrences of domestic violence that have lead to charges being laid.

On Saturday morning, Police responded to a complaint of a disturbance. The investigation has led to 36 year old Charlottetown male being charged with Assault.

Later that same day, another, unrelated complaint was received.  That investigation has led to a 61 year old Charlottetown male being charged with Assault.

In both cases the victims did not require medical attention.  Both individual have been released from custody with no contact conditions and will appear in Provincial Court at a later date.

Two separate charges for refusing to provide breath samples were laid Saturday morning.

While on routine patrol at approximately 1:50 am, Police noticed a vehicle parked on Sydney Street with a female slumped over the steering wheel.  Officers woke the female and determined that she was impaired by alcohol and was subsequently arrested.  A 30 year old Central Bedeque female was charged with refusing to provide a breath sample.

A few hours later at 4:50 am, Charlottetown Police Services responded to a single vehicle collision on Riverside Drive.  The vehicle struck a traffic sign in the center of the round about.  The driver of the vehicle was not injured but displayed signs of impairment by alcohol and was arrested.  A 52 year old Charlottetown man was charged with refusing to provide a breath sample.

Both individuals will appear in Provincial Court at a later date.

Charlottetown Police Services encourage the public to report any instances of impaired driving…Call 911.

Charlottetown Police Services are warning local businesses that counterfeit 100 and 50 dollar bills are being passed to unsuspecting business employees. Since December 9th, Police have received 3 separate reports of counterfeit money. Employees should be vigilant when accepting bills from customers.

The bills resemble the newer Polymer notes currently in circulation, but are slightly off in color and have taped on security features.

On December 11th, Police received a complaint that a male was attempting to pass counterfeit bills at a business on University Avenue.  A plain clothes Officer with the Street Crime Unit was in the area at that time and was able to quickly locate and arrest the male.  A 26 year old Charlottetown man was subsequently charged with uttering counterfeit money and breach of Probation. He was released from custody and will appear in Provincial Court at a later date.

Charges have been laid in connection to the stolen Dodge Journey reported to media yesterday.

While on routine patrol last night on Euston Street, Police located a vehicle matching the description of the stolen Dodge Journey and conducted a traffic stop.  The vehicle was confirmed as stolen and the male driver was arrested.  A male passenger that had been inside the vehicle and had exited the vehicle upon Police arrival was also arrested a short time later for an outstanding arrest warrant.

The driver, a 33 year old Charlotttetown man has been charged with theft of a motor vehicle and breach of probation.  The other male, a 23 year old Charlottetown man was arrested on the outstanding warrant and charged with failing to appear in court.

Both males remain in custody and will appear in court this morning.

UPDATE (Dec 12 – 7:00 am) – The vehicle has been recovered.

Charlottetown Police Services are investigating the theft of a vehicle that occurred yesterday afternoon.

The vehicle is a silver/light grey 2011 Dodge Journey, bearing PEI dealership plate DL1598. It was last seen on the Sherwood Road.
