Impaired Driving – Charges Laid

While on general patrol on January 1st at 3:00 am, Charlottetown Police Services noticed a vehicle driving at a high rate of speed and erratically. Officers pulled the vehicle over on Riverside Drive and determined that the driver displayed signs of impairment by alcohol and was arrested.

A 22 year old Cornwall female has been charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle and will appear in Provincial Court at a later date.

Charlottetown Police Services responded to several possible impaired driver complaints over the weekend, two of which have resulted in charges.

On Saturday morning shortly after 7:30 am , Police responded to a compliant of a possible impaired driver on the Kensington Road.  The vehicle was located and the driver displayed signs of impairment by alcohol and was arrested  A 44 year old Charlottetown male was charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle.

At 2:10 am pm on Sunday morning, while conducting a routine traffic stop, the Officer determined that the driver was impaired by alcohol  A 20 year old Stratford male was arrested and subsequently charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle.

Both individuals will appear in Provincial Court at a later date.

Charlottetown Police Services are investigation a theft from a construction site on Michelle Crescent that occurred sometime overnight on Dec 18/19.

Stolen items include:

• TOPCON self leveling laser level – marked with number 0225 in black permanent marker
• DEWALT skillsaw, serial T00ETG3, model DC8575T1 – marked with RIDGELINE # 0337 in black permanent marker

At 8:40 pm on Saturday, Police responded to a suspicious person complaint.  The investigation led to a vehicle being pulled over and Officers determined that the driver had been drinking.  A 20 year old Brackley man was charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle.

Both individuals will appear in Provincial Court at a later date.

On December 17th, Charlottetown Police Services conducted roadside check stops as part of it’s Christmas Holiday Road Safety Initiative.

Police checked over 1500 vehicles at two locations in the North and East end of the City.  A total of 12 Highway Traffic Act charges were laid.

As part of this Initiative, Charlottetown Polices Services will be conducting additional roadside check stops over the Holiday Season in an effort to deter motorists from driving while impaired.

If you’re planning on consuming alcohol or other intoxicating substances, eliminate the risk of getting behind the wheel altogether and make arrangements for a sober driver before you go out.

Charlottetown Police Services responded to a complaint that a male was seen going through a vehicle at 4:15 am this morning on Upper Prince Street.

A quick response by Police and a good physical and clothing description of the suspect  provided by the complainant led Police to locate and arrest a male that was seen a short distance away.

As a result of the investigation, a 48 year old Charlottetown male has been charged with Trespass at Night and Breach of Probation.

The accused was released from custody and will appear in Provincial Court at a later date.

Charlottetown Police Services responded to a disturbance outside the Provincial Court House yesterday at 1:45 pm.

Several people were involved in an altercation near the entrance to the Court House. As a result of the investigation:

• a 40 year old Charlottetown female has been charged with Assault Peace Officer and Mischief under $5000
• a second 40 year old Charlottetown female has been charged with Causing a Disturbance
• a third 40 year old Charlottetown female has also been charged with Causing a Disturbance

All three accused females will appear in Provincial Court at a later date.

Video surveillance captured two individuals going through vehicles on December 15th at approximately 2:00 am.  The video shows two individuals coming from Greenfield Avenue, heading west on Churchill, then return to Greenfield and head south towards the Brighton Road.
