Arrested and Charged: 41-year-old male charged with child endangerment and two counts of assault, along with other offences

On July 5, 2025, at approximately 5:15 p.m. Charlottetown Police Services received a call from a concerned citizen reporting an assault at a residence on Upper Prince Street. The caller also reported that a male was seen dangling a child over a third-story balcony.

Upon arrival at the scene, officers conducted an investigation which led to the arrest of 41-year-old male. The two children were apprehended. They are both safe and are now being supported through Child and Family Services.

The 41-year-old male was charged with the following offences:

  • Child endangerment (s. 218 CCC)
  • Two counts of assault (s. 266 CCC)
  • Two counts of uttering threats (s. 264 CCC)
  • Disturbing the peace (s. 175 CCC)

He was immediately remanded into custody and appeared in court on July 7, 2025. He will continue to be remanded until his next court date on July 10, 2025.

The 44-year-old man from the East Royalty area who was reported missing has been located deceased due to a single motor vehicle accident.

His death is not believed to be suspicious in nature.

On Thursday June 12, 2025 at 10 pm, Charlottetown Police Services Street Crime Unit with the assistance of the Tactical Response Unit executed a CDSA (Controlled Drugs and Substances Act) search warrant at a residence in Charlottetown.

The search yielded 36.7 grams of crystal methamphetamine, one shotgun, ammunition, nine replica firearms, one crossbow, several knives, two cells phones, and $1900.00 cash.

48 year old John Jason MacLean and 41 year old Dana Lee Cheverie have both been charged with:

  • CDSA 5(2) Possession of Methamphetamine for the Purpose of Trafficking
  • Possession of a prohibited weapon when knowing possession is unauthorized
  • Unsafe storage of a firearm
  • Unsafe storage of ammunition
  • Careless use of a firearm
  • Possession of a weapon for dangerous purposes and Breach of Probation (x9)
  • Breach of a Recognizance Order
  • Breach of Probation

Both accused individuals have been remanded in custody and will appear in Provincial Court at a later date.

On May 18th, Charlottetown Police Services responded to an erratic driver complaint on the Maypoint Road.  Officers located the suspect vehicle in the general area and attempted to pull it over but it fled at a high rate of speed heading east on Capital Drive and Police discontinued the pursuit for public safety reasons.

Officers conducted patrols in the area and located the vehicle abandoned on Westhill Drive.  Witnesses told Police they saw a male exit the vehicle and fled on foot.  The vehicle was seized by Police for further investigation.

Through the course of the initial investigation, Officers were able to identify the driver of the vehicle that fled from them earlier in the day.  Further evidence collected prompted Patrol Officers to engage members of the Charlottetown Police Services Street Crime Unit and a drug investigation was initiated.  Officers seized 150 grams of Cocaine and 0.62 grams of an unknown substance.  The unknown substance has been sent to a lab for analysis.

On May 19, 2025, Officer located the suspect and arrested him without incident.  As a result of both investigations, Robert Daniel Rice (47) of Charlottetown has been charged with the following offences:

  • 320.17 Flight from Police
  • 320.13(1) Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle
  • 320.18 Driving while Prohibited
  • CDSA 5(2) Possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking
  • CDSA 4(1) Possession of fentanyl
  • 733.1(1) Breach of Probation

The accused appeared in Provincial Court last week and has been remanded in custody.

 

At approximately 00:55 am on Sunday morning (May 18), members of the Charlottetown Police Services Street Crime Unit conducted a targeted traffic stop on Beach Street.   Officers seized 277 grams of Cocaine, 303 Dilaudid tablets, 57 Hydromorphone capsules, 3420 contraband cigarettes, $3000 cash and two cell phones.

52 year old Trevor Dale Acorn has been charged with:

  • CDSA 5(2) Possession of Cocaine for the Purpose of Trafficking
  • CDSA 5(2) Possession of Hydromorphone & Dilaudid for the Purpose of Trafficking
  • CCC (Criminal Code of Canada) section 121.1(1) Possession of un-stamped tobacco for the purpose of sale or distribution

The accused has been released with conditions and will appear in Provincial Court at a later date.

At approximately 1:00pm on Tuesday May 6th, Charlottetown Police Services responded to a report of a female shoplifter at the Charlottetown Mall.

The complainant reported that a female had shoplifted from a store and when the employee attempted to stop her she pushed her way through and ran for the Mall exit door.   A good Samaritan attempted to stop her but the female ran into him and both fell to the ground.  The female got up and continued to run while threatening the male as she ran away.

While on route, Officers received a description of the female and located her near Buchanan Drive and arrested her without incident.

A 25 year old Charlottetown female has been charged with:

  • Robbery
  • Assault x2
  • Theft Under $5000
  • Uttering threats x2

The female has been remanded in custody and will appear in Provincial Court at a later date.

Following a six week CDSA Investigation, Charlottetown Police Services Street Crime Unit, arrested a male on Kensington Road at approximately 1:30 pm on Thursday afternoon (April 17th).

A subsequent search warrant was executed at the males residence which yielded 284 grams of Cocaine, 495 grams of dried cannabis, bear spray, brass knuckles, a drone, several cells phones, and over $22,000 cash.

37 year old Skylar John Peters has been charged with CDSA 5(2) Possession of Cocaine for the Purpose of Trafficking, Cannabis Act 10(2) Possession of cannabis for the purpose of selling it, Possession of a weapon for dangerous purposes and Breach of Probation.

The accused has been remanded in custody and will appear in Provincial Court at a later date.

At approximately 5:00pm yesterday afternoon (April 14), Charlottetown Police Services responded to a complaint of a vehicle that had been spray painted (graffiti tags) on Grafton Street.

Shortly after the initial complaint, a second complaint was received indicating that a male was actively spray  painting a power poll in the Norwood Road area. Officers responded to that area and were able to locate the male and arrested him without incident.

A 26 year old Charlottetown male has been charged with mischief under $5000 and was released from custody.  The accused will appear in Provincial Court at a later date.

The investigation into other reports of graffiti throughout the City yesterday is ongoing and may result with other charges.
