Assault Charges Laid

On Saturday night at approximately 11:45 pm, Charlottetown Police Services responded to a complaint of a male fighting at a business on Kent street.  Police were told that the male had assaulted a patron at the establishment and had left prior to Police arrival.

The suspect was located a short time later on Queen Street and was arrested.  A 34 year old Cornwall male has been charged with Assault, Causing a Disturbance, Resist Arrest and Fail to comply with a Release Order.  The accused was released with conditions on Sunday and will appear in Provincial Court at a later date.

Charlottetown Police Services would like to speak with anyone who may have witnessed a disturbance near the intersection of Victoria Park Roadway and Kent Street on Sunday evening at approximately 7:30 pm.

The incident involved two vehicles, a red SUV and a grey SUV.  The two males from each vehicle were involved in a verbal argument that led to a physical altercation.

Both involved males have been identified and spoken to, however Police are looking to speak with any independent witnesses that may have seen what took place.

Charlottetown Police Services are investigating two separate occurrences of broken windows at the Winsloe Soccer Clubhouse.

On August 31st Police responded to a complaint of a broken window on the Winsloe clubhouse.  It was determined that the damage was caused by a golf ball.

On September 4th, another window sustained damage when again a golf ball broke through the window.  This incident may have occurred sometime between Sept 3rd 8:30 pm and Friday Sept 4th 6:30 pm.

On 2020-09-05 at 1040AM Charlottetown Police Service responded to a 911 call alleging that a male had been stabbed at Wash World on North River Rd. and the assailant had stolen a vehicle to flee from the scene. The victim of the stabbing, a 21 yr. old Charlottetown man, received minor, non-threatening injuries after he became involved in a struggle with the assailant who attempted to steal his vehicle. The victim was able to fend off the assailant who then turned his attention to a second victim, a 61 yr. old Charlottetown man. The assailant , who was still brandishing the knife, threatened the second victim prior to the assailant stealing his vehicle. (A 2013 brown Ford Escape).

Shortly after 3PM Charlottetown Police were alerted through the LPR (license plate recognition system) that the stolen motor vehicle was in the down town area. Police patrols located the vehicle being driven East on Kent St. crossing Queen St. Police attempted to stop the stolen vehicle on Kent St but the driver refused to stop and fled from police. Police pursued the stolen vehicle throughout several City streets in efforts to stop and arrest the assailant. Police terminated the pursuit on Rte #2 in Winsloe as the risk to public safety became too great due to the assailant’s driving behavior.

All Island police agencies were advised of the incident and provided a description of the stolen vehicle. Shortly after 4 PM Queens district RCMP with the assistance of Summerside Police Service encountered the stolen vehicle in Kensington, and after a brief pursuit, police were successful in stopping the vehicle.

As a result of this incident Charlottetown Police have charged a 29 Yr. old Pleasant Grove man with;

•  Attempted robbery with an offensive weapon.
• Robbery with an offensive weapon.
• Assault with a weapon
• Flight from police.
• Dangerous operation of a motor vehicle.
• Fail to comply with a probation order.
• Possession of Methamphetamine.

The male remains in custody at the Provincial Correctional Center and will be brought before the courts on Tuesday September 8^th at 10 AM.

The injured victim in this incident was treated and released from the QEH.

The Accused is not known to either of the victims in this incident which appears to have been random.

At 2:55 am this morning (Sept 3), Charlottetown Police Services responded to an anonymous 911 call reporting a male in a house on Queen Street with weapons.

Police attended the residence and determined that a verbal argument between two males had occurred but did not involve any weapons.  One of the two males was arrested on an outstanding arrest warrant.  The 45 year old Charlottetown male was taken into custody and will appear before the courts later today.

A 34 year old Charlottetown male that was at the residence and not involved in the disturbance was arrested on other unrelated matters. He was subsequently charged with possession of property obtained by crime and breach of probation.  An additional charge of possession of drugs was also laid when Police located drugs following his arrest.   The accused has been released and will appear in Provincial Court at a later date.

Charlottetown Police Services are investigating the theft of a vehicle that occurred last night (Aug 31) at approximately 9:00 pm. The vehicle had been parked on Sydney Street.

The vehicle is a red 2019 Mazda 3, bearing PEI plate 412WL.  The picture attached is similar to the one stolen.

The vehicle was last seen East bound on Route 2 near Morell at 11:30 pm.

Charlottetown Police Services have laid three separate assault charges in one day.

File: 20201267260 – At 12:40 pm, Police were called to a residence on Queen Street in response to a complaint of males in an argument.  The investigation led to an assault charge being laid against a 66 year old Charlottetown male.  He was subsequently released from custody with conditions to have no contact with the victim and will appear in Provincial Court at a later date.

File: 20201269742 – At 19:15 pm, Police responded to a complaint of a male being assaulted by another male on Great George Street.  The investigation led to charges of assault and mischief under $5000 dollars being laid against a 46 year old Stratford male.  The accused spent the night in jail and will be released from custody this morning with conditions to have no contact with the victim and will appear in Provincial Court at a later date.

File: 20201270134 – At 8:25 pm, Police responded to a disturbance complaint on Belvedere Avenue involving two females. The investigation led to an assault charge being laid against a 20 year old Charlottetown female.  She was subsequently released from custody with conditions to have no contact with the victim and will appear in Provincial Court at a later date.
