Arrested and Charged: 23-year-old male charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking

On August 1, Charlottetown Police Services Street Crime Unit, with assistance from the General Patrol Unit, arrested and charged 23-year-old Liam Chaulk with possession for the purpose of trafficking.

CPS obtained four search warrants, three for residences (two in Charlottetown and one in Kings County) and one for a vehicle. The searches yielded nearly $38,000 in cash, 10.78g of cocaine, 8,400 illegal cigarettes, five cell phones and other drug related paraphernalia.

23-year-old Liam Chaulk has been charged with the following offences:

• Possession for the purpose of trafficking – CDSA 5(2)
• Illicit distribution or sale of unstamped tobacco products (s. 121 CCC)

Chaulk was remanded into custody and later released. He is scheduled to appear in court on August 28, 2025.

Charlottetown Police Services (CPS) is making the public aware of an arrest made in an internet child exploitation investigation. On August 20, 2025, CPS’ Major Crime Unit, arrested and charged Nathan Paul Green, a 27-year-old male from Charlottetown, with eight child-related sexual offences.

In August 2024, the Major Crime Unit initiated an investigation after receiving a report from the National Centre for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC). The report identified an individual, known as “radiod33r” online, alleged to be engaged in the sexual exploitation of underage females through Kik and Snapchat.

Over the course of several months and through various investigative technology techniques, Major Crime Unit Investigators determined that the offences extended beyond Canadian borders and, as a result, collaborated with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security and Europol in the United Kingdom and successfully identified the suspect as Nathan Paul Green.

The investigation revealed that one minor residing in Charlottetown had previously been contacted by the accused. This matter had been investigated by the Major Crime Unit; however, the investigation was concluded at the time as several factors beyond police control limited further progress.

On August 20, 2025, the Major Crime Unit, with assistance from the Digital Forensics Unit and the General Patrol Unit, executed a search warrant at a residence in Charlottetown. During the search, investigators seized several digital devices, including hard drives, cellular phones, desktop computers and laptop computers, which were secured as evidence for forensic examination.

Nathan Paul Green has been charged with the following offences:

• Luring a child – two counts (s. 172 CCC)
• Invitation to sexual touching (s. 152 CCC)
• Making an agreement or an arrangement – two counts (s. 172 CCC), related to:
  • Sexual interference (s. 151 CCC)
  • Sexual assault (s. 271 CCC)
  • Invitation to sexual touching (s. 152 CCC)
• Making sexually explicit material available to a child (s. 171 CCC)
• Transmitting child pornography (s. 163 CCC)
• Extortion (Sextortion) (s. 346 CCC)

Following an appearance in court earlier today, the accused has been remanded into custody and will appear in court again on September 4.

At approximately 10:45 p.m. on July 28, Charlottetown Police Services responded to a report of a potential domestic altercation. Upon arrival, officers located the victim who displayed visible signs of a recent physical altercation.

While onsite, a 44-year-old male from Charlottetown was located in the residence and charged with the following offences:
• Assault (s. 266 CCC)
• Failure to comply with undertaking – (s. 145 CCC)

These charges are in addition to an outstanding warrant for an assault charge laid in February 2025 (File No. 2025-227462).

The 44-year-old was remanded into custody and is scheduled to appear in court on July 31, 2025.

On July 23, Charlottetown Police Services Street Crime Unit arrested and charged a 24-year-old male from Cornwall with the armed robbery that occurred on May 30 at Jack’s Pizza, 330 University Avenue.

At approximately 10:23 p.m. the masked male entered the business, wielded a large knife at an employee and stole cash from the register. Fortunately, there were no injuries related to the incident.

The Street Crime Unit and the Forensic Identification Unit were called in to assist with the investigation, and over the next several weeks, officers reviewed footage from the premises and nearby businesses, along with e-Watch cameras throughout the community, and completed a series of interviews.

As a result of their investigative work, a 24-year-old male has been charged with armed robbery (s. 344 CCC). He is also being charged with wearing a mask with the intent to commit an indictable offence (s. 351 CCC).

In an unrelated matter, the 24-year-old was also charged for assault with a weapon (s. 267 CCC) (File No. 2025-793523).

He was released with conditions and is scheduled to appear in court on August 21, 2025 and September 25, 2025.

On July 12, Charlottetown Police Services responded to a report of a break and enter at a residence. The break and enter was discovered by one of the homeowners who, upon returning home, noticed the side door was ajar and that the house appeared to have been rummaged through.

An officer from the patrol unit attended the residence and spoke with the homeowner who confirmed cash and cheques had been stolen. The Forensic Identification Unit was also called in to assist with the investigation. Numerous pieces of evidence were collected from the property and tested leading to a positive identification.

A 48-year-old male from Charlottetown, who is known to the homeowners, has been arrested and charged with the following offences:

• Break and enter (s. 348 CCC)
• Fraud – two counts (s. 380 CCC)

The 48-year-old was released with conditions and is scheduled to appear in court on September 4, 2025.

On July 22, 2025, Charlottetown Police Services patrol unit conducted a roadside stop on a recognized vehicle, leading to its three occupants being arrested and charged with possession for the purposes of trafficking.

With the assistance from the Street Crime Unit, officers seized 26.5 grams of crack cocaine, 22 grams of cocaine, 0.5 grams of crystal meth, a variety of drug paraphernalia and a cell phone.

29-year-old Quinton Hayward was arrested and charged with the following offences:

• Breach of probation (s. 733 CCC)
• Possession for the purpose of trafficking CDSA 5(2)

Hayward has been remanded into custody and is scheduled to appear in court on August 21, 2025.

The two other suspects were released and will appear in court at a later date.

At approximately 4:15 a.m. today, Charlottetown Police Services patrol unit arrested and charged a 19-year-old female from Charlottetown with impaired driving.

The vehicle was initially pulled over due to speeding, however, when the officer approached the vehicle, the driver displayed signs of impairment. The observed signs of impairment were confirmed as the breath samples came back at nearly three times the legal limit.

The 19-year-old was remanded into custody and later released. She is scheduled to appear in court on August 21, 2025.

On Tuesday, July 22, 2025, at approximately 7:15 p.m. a male suspect was captured on video placing a disturbing and threatening poster on the front of Charlottetown City Hall. The incident was reported to Charlottetown Police Services earlier today and is currently under investigation.

Charlottetown Police Services is seeking public assistance to identify the suspect.

On July 22, 2025, Charlottetown Police Services patrol unit arrested and charged 45-year-old Derek Gillis with 13 offenses, including 11 counts of break and enter.

Earlier this morning, an officer responded to a call in the East Royalty Area about a break and enter into a shed and the theft of four bicycles. During the investigation, the officer observed other sheds in neighbouring yards that appeared to be open. The officer then visited a number of neighbouring properties to speak with residents. It was determined that eight sheds had been accessed, along with an outbuilding and two garages.

Due to the nature and scale of the incidents, Charlottetown Police Services’ Forensic Identification Unit and Street Crime Unit were brought in to assist with the investigation.

A short while later, the suspect was reportedly seen riding one of the stolen bicycles. Additional officers were deployed to the area and created a perimeter around his known location.

Gillis was successfully located in a nearby marsh with the help of the RCMP’s K-9 unit.

45-year-old Derek Gillis has been charged with the following offenses:

• Break and enter – 11 counts (s. 348 CCC)
• Possession of a break-in instrument – (s. 351 CCC)
• Failure to comply with release order (s. 145 CCC)

Gillis was remanded into custody and will appear in court on July 24, 2025.

On Saturday, July 19, 2025, at approximately 9:11 p.m. a male suspect was captured on video entering the front yard of ‘You Little Witch’, a local business located at 222 Kent Street.

In the video footage provided to the Charlottetown Police Services, the suspect can be seen ripping down strings of Pride flags from the property and throwing them into the roadway.

Charlottetown Police Services are currently investigating the incident and seeking public assistance to identify the suspect.
