Impaired Driving – Charge Laid

At 11:00 am on Saturday morning, Charlottetown Police Services responded to a possible impaired driver that was leaving the Liquor Store on Pond Street. Police were able to locate and pull the suspect vehicle over on Kirkwood Drive.
Police determined that the driver was impaired by alcohol and arrested. A 75 year old Charlottetown woman was charged with refusing to provide a breath sample and will appear in Provincial Court at a later date.

At 11:20 pm Sunday night, Charlottetown Police Services responded to a two vehicle hit and run collision on the Arterial Highway near Mount Edward Road. A passenger vehicle that was heading west crossed the center line and struck a tractor trailer that was in the eastbound lane. The impact caused the vehicle to swing around and come to rest on the north side of the road. The vehicle then drove away heading west towards the Malpeque Road intersection.
A short time later, Police located the suspect vehicle and driver. The vehicle driver displayed signs of being impaired by alcohol and was arrested.
A 22 year old Charlottetown male was subsequently charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle. The accused will appear in Provincial Court at a later date.
The vehicle driver sustained only minor injuries that did not require medical attention and the tractor trailer driver did not sustain any injuries.

Shortly after midnight on Saturday morning, Charlottetown Police Services responded to a complaint of a large gathering on Cumberland Street. Upon arrival Police observed 30+ people at the residence. A 21 year old male was issued a $1000 dollar ticket in violation of section 39(8) of the Public Health Act which prohibits indoor personal gatherings in excess of 10 people.

While on routine patrol at 11:30 pm on Friday night (March 12), Charlottetown Police Services observed a vehicle on the Malpeque Road with no lights on and pulled it over.
The male and female that were in the vehicle were on probation conditions to not be together and when Officers attempted to arrest them, they fled at a high rate of speed. Police did not pursue for public safety reasons.
A short time later at 00:40 am (Saturday), Summerside Police Services located the suspect vehicle and were able to arrest the female driver.
A 36 year old Stratford female has been charged with flight from police and breach of probation (x2), she was remanded in custody and will appear in Provincial Court at a later date.

Last night (March 9th) at 7:45 pm, Charlottetown Police Services responded to a vehicle collision on Green Street.
The collision occurred in front of a residence at 97 Green Street when a white Mitsubishi ran into a vehicle and left the scene prior to Police arriving.
Police were able to locate the Mitsubishi vehicle and driver a short time later. Police would like to speak with anyone that witnessed the collision or may have video surveillance of the collision.

Since last Thursday (March 4th), Charlottetown Police Services have responded to responded to six (6) separate complaints of a large gatherings at City residences. Three (3) $1000 dollar tickets were issued in violation of section 39(8) of the Public Health Act which prohibits indoor personal gatherings in excess of 6 people.
On Thursday night at 8:05 pm, a 40 year old male was issued a violation ticket. (2021287397)

While on routine patrol at approximately 9:00 pm on Saturday (March 6), Officers observed a vehicle driving on Hillsborough Street with no lights on. The vehicle was pulled over on Great George Street. The vehicle driver displayed signs of being impaired by alcohol and was arrested.
A 32 year old Charlottetown male was subsequently charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle. The accused will appear in Provincial Court at a later date.

As a result of an ongoing shoplifting investigation, Charlottetown Police Services Street Crime Unit executed a search warrant at a residence on the MacCallum Road in Marshfield. Police were able to confirm that the item shoplifted was posted for sale on Facebook Marketplace, that item was recovered during the search of the residence.
Police have charged 36 year old Kyle Palmer with possession of property obtained by crime and breach of probation. He was released from custody with conditions and will appear in Provincial Court at a later date.

At approximately 5:00 pm yesterday (March 1), Charlottetown Police Services responded to a complaint of a possible impaired driver on North River Road. The vehicle was located a short time later on Riverside Drive and was pulled over. The vehicle driver displayed signs of being impaired by alcohol and was arrested.
A 37 year old Charlottetown male was subsequently charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle. The accused will appear in Provincial Court at a later date.
