Impaired Driving – Charge Laid

While on routine patrol at 9:30 pm last night (July 12), Charlottetown Police observed a vehicle driving erratically on University Avenue.

Police pulled the vehicle over and determined that the driver displayed signs of impairment by alcohol and was arrested.

A 49 year old  Grand Tracadie male was subsequently charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle.  The accused will appear in Provincial Court at a later date.

Charlottetown Police is seeking public assistance in locating a missing person.

Susan DINGWELL,  60 years old.   5 feet 2 inches tall , approximately 180 pounds.  No clothing description.

She was last seen on June 28th (2021) on Pownal Street in Charlottetown. Her family has not heard from her since that time and are concerned for her safety.

Charlottetown Police is seeking public assistance in locating a missing person.

Miranda CORRIGAN,  26 years old.   5 feet 11 inches tall , approximately 180 pounds, dark brown hair.  No clothing description.

She was last seen on June 30th (2021) by her father in Charlottetown,  he has not heard from her in a week which is out of character for her.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Charlottetown Police Services at 902-629-4172.

Since July 1st, Charlottetown Police Services responded to ten (10) complaints of possible impaired drivers, four (4) of which have resulted in charges being laid.

File: 2021946427 – At 10:00 pm Thursday night, Police responded to a complaint of a possible impaired driver on Prince Street. Police located and pulled the vehicle over on Gower Street.  The driver displayed signs of being impaired by alcohol and was arrested.

A 37 year old Charlottetown male was subsequently charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle.

File: 2021955247 – At 6:30 am on Saturday morning,  Charlottetown Police Services responded to a complaint of a possible impaired driver on Grafton Street.  Police located the vehicle  and  determined that the driver displayed signs of being impaired by alcohol and was arrested.

A 46 year old Dieppe, NB female was subsequently charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle.

File: 2021956628 – At 2:30 pm Saturday afternoon, Police responded to a complaint of a possible impaired driver on the arterial highway.  Officers located the vehicle on Mount Edward Road and conducted a traffic stop.  The driver displayed signs of being impaired by alcohol and was arrested.

A 29 year old Charlottetown male was subsequently charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle.

File: 2021977005 – Just past midnight today (July 7th), Police responded to a complaint of a possible impaired driver on Great George Street.  Officers located the vehicle and determined that the driver displayed signs of being impaired by alcohol and was arrested.

A 21 year old Charlottetown male was subsequently charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle.

All charged individuals will appear in Provincial Court at a later date.

At approximately 430pm on Friday July 2, 2021 Charlottetown Police were dispatched to a vehicle collision involving a pedestrian on Euston Street near the Orlebar Street intersection. Island EMS were on scene prior to police arrival. The 49 year old male was taken to QEH, and then to Moncton hospital, in critical, but stable condition. The collision is still under investigation.

Charlottetown Police Services attended a residence on Parkdale Crescent Sunday morning at 5:25 am in response to an assault complaint.

The male suspect was believed to be armed with a knife and would not exit the property upon Police arrival and barricaded himself inside.   Police attempted to talk the male out without success.  The rapid tactical deployment unit was utilized and deployed tear gas.  The male exited the residence and was arrested without incident.

A 58 year old Charlottetown male remains in custody and is undergoing a psychiatric assessment.  Charges are expected to be laid once the assessment is complete.

The victim has since been released from hospital following treatment for minor injuries.

On the 26^th of June, 2021 a male and female in a N.B plated truck purposely drove around the check stop at the Confederation Bridge in Borden PEI and proceeded to Charlottetown.

The RCMP provided the information for the vehicle in question and it was located in Charlottetown.

Charlottetown Police Services made contact with the male and female occupants who were uncooperative and would not identify themselves.

A Male was taken into custody to be dealt with according to Covid-19 public health protocols.

The female in question eventually identified herself, was issued a summary offence ticket under the health act protocols by conservation officers and was escorted back to N.B.

The male is currently in custody to answer to obstruct police charges.

Effective immediately, there will be traffic restrictions (No Parking) on Queen St., from Grafton St. to Sydney St., EACH SUNDAY until the conclusion of the market at 5pm.  The travelling public are advised to adhere to the restriction placed on the meters in the market area. Vehicle left in the area will be towed at the owner’s expense.

At approximately 11:40 pm last night (June 24), Charlottetown Police Services responded to a complaint of a possible impaired driver Kensington Road.  Police were able to locate the suspect vehicle and performed a traffic stop.  Police determined that the driver was impaired by alcohol and placed the male under arrest.  He was brought back to the Police Station and refused to provide breath samples.

A 27 year old Charlottetown male has been charged with refusing to provide a breath sample upon demand and will appear in Provincial Court at a later date.
