Incident Leads to Multiple Charges

At 10:45 pm Friday night (April 29), Charlottetown Police Services responded to a complaint of multiple people fighting at the intersection of Queen Street and Euston Street.

The entire incident was captured on E-Watch surveillance cameras.   The incident involved five youths/young adults in one vehicle, and one young adult in a second vehicle, all parties were known to one another.  Both vehicle came to a stop in the intersection with all occupants exiting the vehicles and began to fight in the intersection, one victim was struck by a vehicle in the process.   Two individuals were taken to Hospital with minor injuries and later released.

Five of the six involved individuals have been charged with various offences:

A 16 year old Charlottetown female has been charged with causing a disturbance.

An 18 year old Charlottetown male has been charged with possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, causing a disturbance, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle and three (3) counts of assault with a weapon.

A 20 year old Charlottetown male has been charged with causing a disturbance and assault with a weapon.

A 21 year old Charlottetown male has been charged with causing a disturbance and assault with a weapon.

A 20 year old Charlottetown female has been charged with causing a disturbance and assault with a weapon.

The investigation is ongoing and there may be additional charges laid.  All of the accused individuals were released from custody with conditions and will appear in Provincial Court at a later date.

On Friday afternoon (April 29th), Charlottetown Police Services responded to an assault complaint at the Outreach Center on Euston Street.   Through the course of the investigation, it is alleged that two males got into a verbal argument inside the Center that escalated into a physical confrontation resulting in one male stabbing the other male.    The victim sustained two minor stab wounds to the chest area that required medical attention at the QEH.  The victim was released from Hospital a few hours later.

The suspect did leave the Center prior to Police arrival but was located and arrested a short time later.

A 37 year old Charlottetown male has been charged with attempted murder and breach of probation.   He has been remanded in custody and will appear in Provincial Court at a later date.

Charlottetown Police Services have charged four individuals with impaired driving over the weekend in separate incidents.

File: 2022548252 – At approximately 10:30 pm Friday night (April 29), Charlottetown Police Services responded to a complaint of a possible impaired driver on North River Road.  The vehicle was located and pulled over on University Avenue.  Officers determined that the driver displayed signs of impairment by alcohol and was arrested.

A 22 year old Charlottetown female refused to provide breath samples and was subsequently charged with refusing to provide a breath sample upon demand.

File: 2022553957 – At 1:10 am Sunday morning (May 1),  Charlottetown Police Services responded to a complaint of a possible impaired driver on Grafton Street.   Officers located the vehicle on the Hillsborough Bridge and pulled it over.  It was determined that the driver was impaired by alcohol and was arrested.

A 59 year old Charlottetown female was subsequently charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle.

File: 2022554286 – At 2:35 am Sunday morning (May 1), while on routine patrol, Police pulled a vehicle over for a traffic infraction on Water Street.  The driver of the vehicle pulled over for Police and fled on foot.   Police were able to catch up to him and placed him under arrested.   Police determined that the driver displayed signs of being impaired by alcohol and was brought to the police station to provide breath samples.

A 31 year old Summerville male was charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle after providing breath samples twice the legal limit.

File: 2022558367 – At 00:40 am this morning (May 2), Officers responded to a complaint of a possible impaired driver on Kent Street.  The vehicle was located and pulled over on Great George Street.  Officers determined that the driver displayed signs of being impaired by alcohol and was arrested.

A 32 year old Village Green male refused to provide breath samples and was subsequently charged with refusing to provide a breath sample upon demand.

All charged individuals will appear in Provincial Court at a later date.

At 11:45 am yesterday morning (April 26), Officers working inside the Charlottetown Police Station observed a female entering a parked vehicle that was at in the Police Station parking lot.

Officers approached the female and determined that she was in the process of stealing items from inside the vehicle.   She was arrested for theft and became belligerent and resisted arrest.

As a result of the investigation, a 37 year old Charlottetown female has been charged with theft under 5000 dollars and resist arrest.   The accused will appear in Provincial Court at a later date.

Charlottetown Police Services is seeking public assistance to identify the suspect responsible for stealing diesel fuel from a tractor trailer.

At approximately 1:40 am this morning (Friday April 22), diesel fuel was siphoned from a tractor trailer that was parked in a business located on the Sherwood Road.  The suspect vehicle is seen on video leaving the property, turning right on Sherwood Road and drive towards Malpeque Road.  Due to spillage at the scene, the suspect vehicle would likely be emitting a strong smell of diesel fuel.

Mr Scott RYAN, whom was reported missing last week was located yesterday morning deceased.  The cause of death is not suspicious.

While on routine patrol last night at 11:10 pm, Police attempted to pull a vehicle over on Orlebar Street for a traffic infraction.  The vehicle did not pull over and fled at a high rate of speed, Police did not pursue the vehicle for public safety reasons.

Through the course of the investigation, Officers were able to identify the driver whom was located and arrested this morning at 9:15 am.

A 49 year old Charlottetown male has been charged with flight from Police and dangerous operation of a motor vehicle.   The accused will appear in Provincial Court at a later date.

At 2:15 am this morning (April 13th), Charlottetown Police Services responded to a complaint of a vehicle that had left the road and was on the front lawn of a residence on Euston Street.

Responding Officers determined that the lone occupant and vehicle driver was impaired by alcohol and arrested.  The collision was minor and the driver did not sustain any injuries.

An 18 year old Charlottetown woman was subsequently charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle.   The accused will appear in Provincial Court at a later date.

At 8:25 pm Saturday (April 9th), Charlottetown Police Services responded to a complaint of a possible impaired driver that had struck a set of stairs at a business location on Belvedere Avenue and had left the area.

Officers were able to locate the vehicle a short time later on Mount Edward Road and determined that the driver was impaired by alcohol and arrested.

A 39 year old Charlottetown male was subsequently charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle.   He was also issued a 90 day driving prohibition order and the vehicle has been impounded for 30 days.  The accused will appear in Provincial Court at a later date.

Charlottetown Police Services have made two arrests in relation to theft from vehicles.

Over the last 3 to 4 weeks, Police have seen an increase in theft from vehicles and have advised the public to remove valuables from vehicles and keep the doors locked.   In many cases, items such as purses, wallets and electronics were stolen.

At approximately 00:20 am this morning, (March 30), Police responded to a complaint on Queen Street that two males had stolen a laptop from a vehicle and that the complainant had pursued the suspects until he lost sight of them on Green Street.

Responding Officers searched the area and eventually located the suspects on Fitzroy Street where they fled from Police on foot.   Both suspects were eventually arrested and taken into custody at 1:00 am.

Two Charlottetown men, aged 25 and 30,  have been charged with  theft under $5000 dollars, trespass at night, resist arrest and breach of probation.

Both men have been released with conditions and will appear in Provincial Court at a later date.

Despite these recent arrests, Police encourage the public to remain vigilant:

• continue to remove valuable from your vehicle,
• keep the doors locked
• and should you see suspicious activity report it to Police immediately.
