Wanted Male Arrested – Facing New Drug Charges

Shortly after midnight on Saturday morning (Dec 17), Officers arrested a male that was subject to two arrest warrants for failing to appear in Provincial court on December 15th.

At the time of the arrest, the male was found to be in possession of several types of street drugs and an investigation into drug trafficking ensued.

As a result of the investigation, a 37 year old Charlottetown male has been charged with 3 counts of possession of drugs for the purpose of trafficking.  The accused currently has several other pending matters before the courts and has been remanded in custody.

Pending matters include:

• June 6, 2022 – The accused was arrested and charged with operating a motor vehicle while prohibited.
• Oct 7, 2022 – The accused was arrested and charged with operating a motor vehicle while prohibited.
• Nov 12, 2022 – The accused was arrested for driving a vehicle while impaired by drugs.   A quantity a drugs were seized at this time and charges of possession of drugs for the purpose of trafficking were laid at that time.

While on routine patrol at 2:25 am Saturday morning (Dec 17), Police observed a vehicle driving the wrong way on Kent Street pulled it over.  The driver of the vehicle displayed signs of being impaired by alcohol and was arrested.

A 43 year old Charlottetown female was subsequently charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle after providing breath samples that were over twice the legal limit.

The accused will appear in Provincial Court at a later date.

At 2:45 am this morning (Dec 15), Charlottetown Police Services responded to a complaint of a possible impaired driver on Belvedere Ave.  Responding Officers located the vehicle in Browns Court.   The driver of the vehicle displayed signs of being impaired by alcohol and was arrested.

A 19 year old Charlottetown female was subsequently charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle.

The accused will appear in Provincial Court at a later date.

At approximately 9:00 am yesterday morning (Dec 13), Charlottetown Police Services responded to a complaint of a single vehicle collision on Mount Edward Road.  Police located the vehicle stuck in a ditch and determined that the driver was impaired by alcohol and was arrested.

The uninjured driver, a 54 year old Millcove male refused to provide breath samples and was subsequently charged with refusing to provide a breath sample upon demand and will appear in Provincial Court at a later date.

Charlottetown Police Services have charged five individuals with impaired driving over the weekend in separate incidents.

File: 20221770607 – At approximately 11:30 pm Friday night (Dec 9), Charlottetown Police Services responded to a complaint of a possible impaired driver on St Peters Road.  The vehicle was located and pulled over on the Arterial Highway.  Officers determined that the driver displayed signs of impairment by alcohol and was arrested.

A 29 year old Cornwall male was charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle after providing breath samples that were over twice the legal limit.

File: 20221772902 – At approximately 2:00 pm Saturday afternoon (Dec 10),  Charlottetown Police Services responded to a complaint of a possible impaired driver.   Officers located the vehicle on the Atlantic Road and pulled it over.  It was determined that the driver was impaired by alcohol and was arrested.

A 54 year old Charlottetown male was subsequently charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle.

File: 20221774358 – At 7:40 pm Saturday evening (Dec 10), Police responded to a minor two vehicle collision on Belvedere Ave.  There were no injuries reported.  While interacting with one of the drivers,  Police observed that the driver displayed signs of being impaired by alcohol and was arrested.

A 36 year old Charlottetown male was charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle after providing breath samples that were over twice the legal limit.

File: 20221776137 – At 3:44 am Sunday morning (Dec 11), while on routine patrol, Police came across a parked vehicle on Weymouth Street with the engine running and a male sleeping in the drivers seat.  The Officer woke the driver up and quickly determined that he was impaired by alcohol and was arrested.

A 28 year old Stratford male was charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle after providing breath samples that were almost twice the legal limit.

File: 20221779602 – At 2:18 am this morning (Dec 12), while on routine patrol, Police observed an erratic driver on St Peters Road and pulled it over.  The driver displayed signs of being impaired by alcohol and was arrested.

A 24 year old Charlottetown male was charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle after providing breath samples that were over twice the legal limit.

All charged individuals will appear in Provincial Court at a later date.

Charlottetown Police Services is reminding the public once again to please plan ahead and never get behind the wheel when their ability to drive is impaired by drugs or alcohol.

The public is asked to report instances of suspected impaired driving by calling 911.

UPDATE Dec 10, 2022 – The U-Haul truck has been recovered.

Charlottetown Police Services is investigating the theft of a U-Haul moving truck. The vehicle was rented on December 2nd from the U-haul business on Capital Drive in Charlottetown.  The truck has not been returned and is considered stolen.

The vehicle is a 2017 Ford F650 enclosed truck (26 foot), it was bearing Arizona plate AH27574 at the time of the theft.   The picture below is similar to the one stolen.

Charlottetown Police Services Street Crime Unit, with the assistance from the Rapid Tactical Deployment Unit and Patrol Officers executed a Controlled Drugs and Substance Act Search Warrant at a residence on the Sleepy Hollow Road Saturday morning (Dec 3, 2022) at approximately 1:00 am.

The search resulted in the seizure of:

• 2 kilograms of crystal meth
• 114 grams of cocaine
• 2811 tablets of speed (methamphetamine)
• 1075 dilaudid pills
• 889 grams of cannabis
• Street value of drugs is approximately $320,000.00 dollars
• $3400.00 cash
• one replica airsoft/bb guns
• other drug paraphernalia

A 47 year old Charlottetown male has been charged with three (3) counts of CDSA 5(2) –  Possession of drugs for the purpose of trafficking.  The investigation is ongoing and may result with further charges being laid.

The accused remains in custody and will appear in court later this week for a show cause hearing.

Charlottetown Police Service is investigating a theft of fence sections from the Canadas Best Value Hotel at 20 Capital Drive.   The theft occurred sometime last night.  A total of 11 sections were stolen from behind the Hotel and would have required a large enough vehicle or trailer to haul them away.   Each section is approximately 8 feet wide and pictured below.

Charlottetown Police Services have charged two individuals with impaired driving early Saturday morning in separate incidents.

File: 20221704695 – At approximately 1:00 am Saturday morning (Nov 26), while on routine patrol, Officers noticed a vehicle driving erratically and pulled it over on MacKinnon Road.  Once the vehicle stopped, a passenger got out and ran from the scene, meanwhile, the driver placed the car back in drive and for unknown reasons, drove the vehicle into the ditch where it got stuck.  The driver displayed signs of impairment by alcohol and was arrested.

A 23 year old Charlottetown male provided breath sample over twice the legal limit and was subsequently charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle.

File: 20221705079 – At 3:00 am Saturday morning (Nov 26),  Charlottetown Police Services responded to a complaint of a possible impaired driver on Queen Street.   Officers located the vehicle on Riverside Drive and pulled it over.  Officers determined that the driver was impaired by alcohol and was arrested.

A 47 year old  Donaldston male was charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle.

All charged individuals will appear in Provincial Court at a later date.
