Charlottetown Police Services responded to five (5) possible impaired driving complaints over the weekend, three of which resulted with charges being laid.
File: 2023609136 – At approximately 8:20 pm Friday night (May 5), Charlottetown Police Services responded to a complaint of a possible impaired driver on Kent Street. The vehicle was located and pulled over on St Peters Road. Officers determined that the driver displayed signs of impairment by alcohol and was arrested.
A 73 year old Charlottetown male was charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle.
File: 2023611089 – At approximately 3:00 am Saturday morning (May 6), Charlottetown Police Services responded to a complaint of a possible impaired driver that had backed into another parked vehicle on Prince Street. Officers attended the location and determined that the driver was indeed impaired by alcohol and was arrested.
A 19 year old Farmington PEI male was subsequently charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle after providing breath samples that were almost twice the legal limit.
File: 2023616839 – At approximately 4:10 am Sunday morning (May 7), while on routine patrol, Officers noticed a vehicle driving in an erratic manner on Capital Drive. The vehicle was pulled over and Officers made the observations that the driver was impaired by alcohol and was arrested.
An 18 year old Saint-Antoine New Brunswick male was subsequently charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle after providing breath samples that were almost twice the legal limit.
All charged individuals will appear in Provincial Court at a later date.
Charlottetown Police Services is reminding the public to plan ahead and never get behind the wheel when their ability to drive is impaired by drugs or alcohol.
The Police Service wishes to thank concerned citizens for reporting possible impaired drivers. The public is encouraged to report instances of suspected impaired driving by calling 911.

Charlottetown Police is seeking public assistance in locating a missing person.
Mr Clarkin went missing from the Charlottetown area and was last seen at approximately 10:00 am on April 8th on the Clarkin Road in Emyvale. RCMP has assisted CPS thus far with searching the Emyvale area.

The head on collision occurred on April 16th at approximately 9:10pm on Riverside Drive near the Pioneer Avenue exit. We are seeking any additional witnesses that have not spoken to Police yet, or that may have dash cam footage.

Charlottetown Police Services, along with Charlottetown Fire Department and IEMS responded to a two vehicle collision that occurred last night at approximately 9:10 pm.
The collision occurred when a vehicle traveling south on Riverside Drive (near the Pioneer Avenue exit) crossed the center line and struck a northbound vehicle head on. The southbound vehicle caught fire and attempts to extract the driver by witnesses failed.
The northbound vehicle, a mini van, was occupied by five children and two adults. All were transported to the QEH, some had serious but non life threatening injuries.
Charlottetown Police Traffic/Collision Reconstructionist attended the scene. The cause of the collision remains under investigation.

At approximately 3:20 am this morning (Apr 25), Charlottetown Police Services responded to a complaint that a female had gain access into an apartment via a patio door at a residence on Weymouth Street. The female left when confronted by the resident.
A short time later, Officers located a female matching the description and arrested her for break and enter.
The investigation has led to the 29 year old Charlottetown female being charged with break and enter. She has been released on conditions and will appear in Provincial Court at a later date.
Charlottetown Police Services have laid B&E charges in two separate cases over the last 24 hours.
File: 2023514595 – On April 18th, CPS responded to a complaint of a Break and Enter from a garage at a residence on Villa Avenue. Video surveillance was used to identify a male suspect. The male was observed entering a parked vehicle and then entered the garage and left moments later. Later that same day, the male suspect was located by Police and arrested. A 40 year old Charlottetown male was subsequently charged with break and enter and breach of probation. He was released with conditions and will appear in Provincial Court at a later date.
File: 2023516188 – While on Patrol this morning at 2:30am (April 19), Police noticed suspicious activity at a business on Belvedere Avenue and proceeded to investigate. A male was located inside the building and arrested. A 27 year old Charlottetown male has been charged with break and enter, possession of break-in instrument, mischief under $5000, fail to comply with a release order and breach of probation. The accused has been remanded in custody and will appear in Provincial Court at a later date.

On April 10th, 2023 at approximately 8:30pm, Charlottetown Police Services responded to an LPR (License Plate Reader) alert. The alert was in response to a vehicle reported stolen from Summerside earlier in the day.
Officers immediately patrolled the area and located the vehicle a short time later traveling on Queen Street. The vehicle was pulled over without incident. The driver of the vehicle, a 33 year old Charlottetown male was arrested and subsequently charged with possession of property obtained by crime and breach of probation.
The accused was remanded in custody and is appearing in Provincial Court today.

The vehicle was located and pulled over on Malpeque Road. Officers determined that the driver displayed signs of impairment by alcohol and was arrested.
A 47 year old Kinkora male was charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle after providing breath samples that were over the legal limit.
File: 2023459228 – At approximately 1:30 am Saturday morning (Apr 8), Charlottetown Police Services responded to a complaint of a possible impaired driver on Grafton Street. Officers located the vehicle a short time later and pulled it over. It was determined that the driver was impaired by alcohol and was arrested.
A 23 year old Moncton male was subsequently charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle after providing breath samples that were over twice the legal limit.
All charged individuals will appear in Provincial Court at a later date.

At approximately 10:20 pm last night (Apr 4), Charlottetown Police Services Street Crime Unit with the assistance of Patrol Officers and the Rapid Tactical Deployment Containment Team arrested a male on Fitzroy Street outside of his residence and subsequently executed a Controlled Drug and Substance Act Search Warrant.

At the time of the offence, the accused was subject to the electronic supervision program through Probation Services following a conditional sentence order.
A 36 year old Charlottetown male has been charged with CDSA 5(2) – Possession of drugs for the purpose of trafficking and possession of a prohibited weapon.
The accused has been remanded in custody and will appear in Provincial Court tomorrow.
