Robbery – Charges Laid

At approximately 4:20pm yesterday afternoon, Charlottetown Police Services responded to a Robbery complaint that occurred in a residence on Green Street.

The suspect had left the scene prior to Police arrival but was located and arrested a few hours later.  The victim and suspect were known to each other, this was not a random act.

A 25 year old Charlottetown male has been charged with Robbery and Breach of Probation.  He remains in custody at this time and will appear in Provincial Court later today for a remand hearing.

Charlottetown Police services have arrested and charged a male in connection with a Robbery that occurred yesterday afternoon.

Police responded to a theft complaint where the victim was assaulted and threatened.  The investigation led to the identification of the suspect whom was located and arrested with the assistance of the Charlottetown Police Services Street Crime Unit.

In addition to the Robbery, the suspect was also involved in several other thefts that occurred on the same day.

The accused, a 41 year old Charlottetown man has been charged with:

  • Robbery
  • Theft Under $5000 (3 counts)
  • Breach of Probation (4 counts)
  • Breach of a Recognizance Order (4 counts)

The accused will appear in Provincial Court later today for a remand hearing.

 

On September 5th, the first day for students to go back to school, Charlottetown Police patrol officers will be out in full force.

All patrol police vehicles when possible will be parked at or near schools in the city observing motorist behavior in order to ensure safety for our in coming students.

Charlottetown Police will also be assisting the crossing guards at some of our elementary schools with higher traffic volume.

In the morning, these officers will be posted at Prince St. St Jeans, and Spring Park Elementary Schools. At noon time, the officers will be posted at Queen Charlotte and Birchwood Jr. High Schools.

Charlottetown Police Services have laid several charges in connection to an assault that took place on Queen Street on Thursday August 31st.  The assault occurred between two males that were known to each other and involved the brandishing of a knife.

A 39 Charlottetown male has been charged with:

  • Assault
  • Assault with a weapon
  • Possession of a weapon for dangerous purposes
  • Uttering threats

The accused remains in custody until his next court appearance on September 5th.

While on patrol at 2:30 am this morning (Aug 30), Charlottetown Police Services patrol Officer noted a suspicious vehicle on Walthen Drive.   The license plate was queried and came back to a vehicle that was stolen from Moncton New Brunswick on August 19th.

As a result of the investigation, a 45 year old Moncton male has been charged with:

  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime
  • Possession of Drugs
  • Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle
  • Breach of Probation
  • Fail to comply with an Undertaking

The male is also wanted for other matters in the Provinces of Ontario and Nova Scotia.  He will be appearing in Provincial Court later today.

Charlottetown Police Services are investigating the theft of a vehicle that occurred sometime between Aug 8 and Aug 13 2019.

The vehicle, a four door 2009 white Volkswagen Jetta, bearing PEI plate A031Y was stolen from a property located at 253 Brackley Point Road.   The theft occurred sometime between Aug 8 and Aug 13.

Charlottetown Police Services are investigating the theft of a significant quantity of mattresses and box-springs from a storage trailer located near Sleep Country at 180 Buchanan Drive.

The theft occurred sometime between Friday Aug 16 at 9:00 pm and Saturday Aug 17 at 9:00 am.
