Damage to Property – Charges Laid

At 9:00 pm on Wednesday night, Charlottetown Police Services responded to a complaint of a man damaging property on Laurie Drive.

Upon arrival, Police located the resident of the house, a 50 year old Charlottetown man that was in a state of drug induced hallucinations.  The male was arrested and taken into custody without incident.   Damage to the house was significant and includes setting fire to the rear deck.  The accused has been charged with Mischief Over $5000 dollars and Arson.

The accused remained in custody overnight and was released the following morning and will appear in Provincial Court at a later date.

Charlottetown Police Services responded to a complaint of a male checking cars on Wallace Drive at 1:15 am this morning.

Several Officers responded and searched the area.  The suspect was located in a yard on Cortland Street at 2:40 am and was arrested.

A 16 year old Rocky Point youth is in custody and is facing several theft from vehicle and trespass at night charges.

The youth had several items in his possession which are believed to have been stolen.  Police are asking residents that live in the area of Cortland Street, Wallace Drive, Russet Drive and Scott Street to check their vehicles to see if anything was stolen overnight and if so, call Charlottetown Police Services to report the thefts.

While on routine patrol at 10:00 pm last night (Apr 13), Police noticed a vehicle driving erratically on University Avenue.  The vehicle was pulled over and the driver displayed signs of being impaired by alcohol and was arrested.

An 18 year old Stratford man was subsequently charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle and will appear in Provincial Court at a later date.

Charlottetown Police Services are requesting the public’s help in identifying the male depicted in the attached video. The male attended a business on Euston Street on March 26th between 5:10 and 6:10 am and fraudulently used the tap feature on a stolen credit card.

Charlottetown Police Services responded to a disturbance on Rochford Street at 9:10 pm last night.

A taxi driver reported that an intoxicated passenger became aggressive, assaulted him and caused damage to his hand held payment terminal.

Police arrested a 60 year old Charlottetown woman and subsequently charged her with assault and mischief under $5000.  She was incarcerated overnight and released this morning with conditions and will appear in Provincial Court at a later date.

While on routine patrol at 1:00 am Saturday morning, Police noticed a vehicle driving erratically on Victoria Park Roadway.  The vehicle was pulled over and the driver displayed signs of being impaired by alcohol and was arrested.

A 57 year old Charlottetown man was subsequently charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle and will appear in Provincial Court at a later date.

Charlottetown Police Services were saddened by the passing of Cst. Reg Flanagan last week after a long illness. Reg served with the Charlottetown Police Services during the 1980’s and 90’s, and will always be remembered as one to never shy away from a tough situation. Reg Flanagan served the citizens of Charlottetown with distinction, and there never existed a dull moment when occupying the same patrol car. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family during these troubling times.

At 3:20 pm yesterday (March 31), Charlottetown Police Services responded to a Break and Enter in progress at a business on Queen Street.

While on route, Police received a description of the male suspect and located him at the corner of Great George and Grafton Street.  A foot chase ensued and the suspect was apprehended a short distance later and was arrested.

A 41 year old Charlottetown man has been charged with Break and Enter. The accused has been released on conditions and will appear in Provincial Court at a later date.

At 9:50 pm last night (March 30th), Charlottetown Police Services responded to a complaint of a male yelling and holding a firearm outside of a Motel on the Brackley Point Road.

Police located the male a short distance away and arrested him without incident.  A hand gun was also located and seized.

A 50 year old Charlottetown man has been charged with:

  • Pointing a Firearm
  • Possession of a weapon for dangerous purposes
  • Possession of a firearm when unauthorised to do so
  • Break and Enter
  • Unlawfully in a dwelling house
  • Mischief under $5000
  • Possession of property obtained by crime
  • Causing a disturbance
  • Breach of Probation

The accused has been remanded in custody and will appear in Provincial Court at a later date.
