Thrown Objects from Oak Drive Overpass – Public Assistance

Charlottetown Police Services is investigation an incident of someone throwing objects, possibly rocks from the Oak Drive overpass.

Between 7:50 and 8:15 pm on Friday evening (Aug 21st), someone threw small objects, believed to be rocks, from the Oak Drive overpass down onto the Perimeter Highway.  The objects struck a passing vehicle heading west and cracked the windshield.

Needless to say that throwing any item from the overpass down onto oncoming traffic is extremely dangerous.  Police are asking for any witnesses or anyone with information to come forward and contact police at 902-629-4172, complete the tip section below or contact PEI Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).

Charlottetown Police Services have laid charges in connection with a Break and Enter into a business on Allen Street.

Police responded to the complaint on Saturday morning.  Sometime overnight, someone had entered a workshop on the property and stole several tools.  Surveillance video showed one male entering the property.   On Sunday morning at 3:00 am, while on routine, Police located a male matching the description of the suspect and placed him under arrest.  Some of the stolen tools were recovered at that time.

An 18 year old Long Creek male has been charged with break and enter.  He was released from custody with conditions and will appear in Provincial Court at a later date.

Charlottetown Police Services responded to a complaint of domestic violence at 10:45 pm last night.

The investigation has led to a 21 year old Charlottetown male being arrested and charged with assault with a weapon, uttering threats and forcible confinement.

The accused is currently in custody and will appear in Court later today for a remand hearing.

At 2:00 am this morning, Charlottetown Police Services responded to a 911 call reporting a theft of vehicle on Wendy Drive.

Upon Police arrival, Police were met by several people arguing and observed a broken window on the residence.   The female complainant had two outstanding arrest warrants and was arrested.   It was also determined that the complainant was also responsible for having broken the residence window.  During the arrest process, the female became aggressive and assaulted two Police Officers.   As a result, a 36 year old Stratford woman has been charged with two counts of mischief under $5000 dollars, two counts of assault Police and two counts of uttering threats.   The accused is currently in custody and will appear for a remand hearing later today.

The vehicle that was alleged to have been stolen returned to the Wendy Drive residence as Police were arresting the complainant.  The female driver of the vehicle displayed signs of being impaired by drugs and was arrested. An officer trained as a Drug Recognition Expert (DRE) confirmed the driver was under the influence of drugs and made the demand that a blood sample be provided.  Impaired driving charges are pending the blood sample toxicology results.  A 41 year old Charlottetown female was released from custody with a 90 day driving prohibition order and the vehicle was impounded for 30 days.

The investigation into the theft of vehicle is ongoing and may result in further charges.

Charlottetown Police Services have laid assault charges in connection to a complaint received at midnight last night.   The assault occurred on Euston Street and involved two males. The victim sustained minor injuries which required treatment at the QEH.

A 26 year old Charlottetown male has been charged with assault and breach of probation.  He is currently in custody awaiting a remand hearing later today.

On Sunday at approximately 6:30 pm, Police responded to a complaint of a male on a small dirt bike going up and down Patterson Drive.  Charlottetown Police Services are requesting the public’s help in identifying this male.

At 5:00 pm on Saturday, Charlottetown Police Services responded to a disturbance on Weymouth Street involving two females arguing.

The Investigation has lead to a 54 year old Charlottetown woman being charged with Assault.  She has been released from custody with conditions to have no contact with the female victim and will appear in Provincial Court at a later date.

Two separate incidents lead to Impaired Driving charges.

Charlottetown Police responded to a two vehicle collision on Friday at the intersection of Lower Malpeque Road and Capital Drive. While interacting with both drivers, Police noticed that one of them was displaying signs of being impaired by alcohol.  As a result, a 31 year old Charlottetown male was arrested and subsequently charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle. He will appear in Provincial Court at a later date.

Charlottetown Police responded to a single vehicle collision this morning at 1:10 am on the Lower Malpeque Road.   Police determined that the driver was impaired by alcohol and was arrested.  As a result, a 24 year old Charlottetown male was charged with impaired driving and will appear in Provincial Court at a later date.

No injuries were reported at either collision.

While on routine patrol on Eden Street at 12:00 pm on Friday, Charlottetown Police Services observed a male driver that was known to be prohibited due to previous impaired driving charges.  Officers conducted a traffic stop on Kirkwood Drive.  While interacting with the driver, Police determined that the driver displayed signs of being impaired by drugs and was arrested.  An officer trained as a Drug Recognition Expert (DRE) confirmed the driver was under the influence of drugs and made the demand that a blood sample be provided.  Impaired driving charges are pending the blood sample toxicology results.

A 46 year old Charlottetown man was released from custody with a 90 day driving prohibition order and the vehicle was impounded for 60 days.

Charlottetown Police Services responded to a complaint of an erratic driver on Maypoint Road shortly after 6:30 pm yesterday.  The suspect vehicle was located a short time later.   The driver displayed signs of being impaired by drugs and was arrested.  An officer trained as a Drug Recognition Expert (DRE) confirmed the driver was under the influence of drugs and made the demand that a blood sample be provided.  Impaired driving charges are pending the blood sample toxicology results.  A 34 year old Winsloe man was released from custody with a 90 day driving prohibition order and the vehicle was impounded for 30 days.
