Bach to School – Keep Our Kids Safe

It’s that time of year again and the Charlottetown Police Service would  like to welcome all educational staff and students back for the 2020-2021 school year.

With the start of the school year motorist are asked to be mindful and reduce speeds in school zones. Parents are asked to remind their children to cross at crosswalks where they are most visible to motorist.

Police will be vigilant in monitoring areas around schools and will be introducing traffic calming measures to ensure the safety of students.

The safety of students is everyone’s responsibility let’s make sure we all do our part to facilitate a safe return for all.

At 2:55 am this morning (Sept 3), Charlottetown Police Services responded to an anonymous 911 call reporting a male in a house on Queen Street with weapons.

Police attended the residence and determined that a verbal argument between two males had occurred but did not involve any weapons.  One of the two males was arrested on an outstanding arrest warrant.  The 45 year old Charlottetown male was taken into custody and will appear before the courts later today.

A 34 year old Charlottetown male that was at the residence and not involved in the disturbance was arrested on other unrelated matters. He was subsequently charged with possession of property obtained by crime and breach of probation.  An additional charge of possession of drugs was also laid when Police located drugs following his arrest.   The accused has been released and will appear in Provincial Court at a later date.

Charlottetown Police Services are investigating the theft of a vehicle that occurred last night (Aug 31) at approximately 9:00 pm. The vehicle had been parked on Sydney Street.

The vehicle is a red 2019 Mazda 3, bearing PEI plate 412WL.  The picture attached is similar to the one stolen.

The vehicle was last seen East bound on Route 2 near Morell at 11:30 pm.

Charlottetown Police Services have laid three separate assault charges in one day.

File: 20201267260 – At 12:40 pm, Police were called to a residence on Queen Street in response to a complaint of males in an argument.  The investigation led to an assault charge being laid against a 66 year old Charlottetown male.  He was subsequently released from custody with conditions to have no contact with the victim and will appear in Provincial Court at a later date.

File: 20201269742 – At 19:15 pm, Police responded to a complaint of a male being assaulted by another male on Great George Street.  The investigation led to charges of assault and mischief under $5000 dollars being laid against a 46 year old Stratford male.  The accused spent the night in jail and will be released from custody this morning with conditions to have no contact with the victim and will appear in Provincial Court at a later date.

File: 20201270134 – At 8:25 pm, Police responded to a disturbance complaint on Belvedere Avenue involving two females. The investigation led to an assault charge being laid against a 20 year old Charlottetown female.  She was subsequently released from custody with conditions to have no contact with the victim and will appear in Provincial Court at a later date.

While on routine patrol at 11:55 pm Friday Aug 28th, Police observed a vehicle driving with no tail lights on Capital Drive.  The vehicle was pulled over and it was determined that the driver was impaired by alcohol and was arrested.

A 28 year old Hampton male was subsequently charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle and will appear in Provincial Court at a later date.

Charlottetown Police Services encourage the public to report any instances of impaired driving…Call 911.

Update: Aug 31, 2020 – Mr Cheverie has been located safe and sound.  Thank you for your assistance. 

 

Charlottetown Police are requesting the public’s assistance in locating a 22 year old male, Jeremy Rodney William Cheverie of Charlottetown. Jeremy has red hair, he’s 5’9 weighing 195lbs, last seen wearing blue Rayban prescription glasses. He is driving a 2014 black Honda Civic PEI plate B607H. The vehicle has a Las Vegas Knights license plate on the front and there is damage to the grill and front passengers side of the vehicle. Anyone with any information about the whereabouts of Mr. Cheverie please contact Charlottetown Police Services at (902) 629-4172.

Charlottetown Police Services responded to a complaint of domestic violence at 6:00 pm last evening (Aug 26).

The investigation has led to a 27 year old Charlottetown male being arrested and charged with assault, forcible confinement and failing to comply with an undertaking.

The accused is currently in custody and will appear in Court later today for a remand hearing.

Charlottetown Police Services are seeking to speak with anyone that may have witnessed the motorcycle collision that occurred on Sunday August 23rd  at approximately 2:30 pm.  The motorcycle was travelling north on Riverside Drive and entered the roundabout that exits onto Exhibition Drive, the collision occurred while the motorcycle was in the roundabout.  No injuries were reported to Police.
