Impaired driving – Charges Laid

At 8:00 pm on Saturday night, Charlottetown Police Services responded to a complaint of a possible impaired driver on Mount Edward Road.  The vehicle was located and pulled over on the Kensington Road.   Police determined that the driver, a 39 year old Charlottetown female was impaired by alcohol and was subsequently charged with refusing to provide a breath sample.  She will appear in Provincial Court at a later date.

Charlottetown Police Services responded to  twelve (12) complaints of possible impaired drivers over the weekend, five (5) of which resulted in charges being laid.

At 3:29 am on Sunday morning (Oct 11), Police responded to a complaint of a possible impaired driver on Euston Street.   The vehicle was located on Prince Street and pulled over.. Police determined the driver was impaired by alcohol and subsequently arrested. A 25 year old Milton Station male was charged with Impaired Operation of a motor vehicle and will appear in Provincial Court at a later date.

At 10:45 am on Sunday (Oct 11), Police responded to a complaint of a person possibly impaired leaving a residence on Kensington Road.  Police located the vehicle a short time later on Pownal Street and determined that the driver was impaired by alcohol.  A 31 year old Charlottetown female was charged with Impaired Operation of a motor vehicle and will appear in Provincial Court at a later date.

At 4:15 pm on Sunday (Oct 11), Police responded to a complaint of a person possibly impaired and driving on Dorchester Street.  Police located the vehicle a short time later on York Road and determined that the driver was impaired by alcohol.  A 63 year old Johnsons River female was charged with Impaired Operation of a motor vehicle and will appear in Provincial Court at a later date.

At 2:30 am on Monday morning (Oct 12), while investigating an unrelated occurrence, a female that showed up at the residence in her vehicle was found to be impaired by alcohol and arrested.   A 43 year old Charlottetown female was subsequently charged with Impaired Operation of a motor vehicle and will appear in Provincial Court at a later date.

At 2:42 am on Monday morning (Oct 12), Police responded to a complaint of an impaired driver on Longworth Avenue.  Police located the vehicle and determined that the driver was impaired by alcohol. .   A 29 year old York male was charged with Impaired Operation of a motor vehicle and will appear in Provincial Court at a later date.

At 9:30 pm last night (Oct 4th), Charlottetown Police Services responded to a complaint of an unwanted person at a residence on Westridge Crescent.   Upon arrival, Police located the female subject of complaint.  While interacting with this female, Police ran a check on the vehicle that she was driving and discovered that it had been stolen earlier in the day.

The 24 year old Charlottetown female was subsequently arrested and charged with possession of property obtained by crime.  She was later released from custody and will appear in Provincial Court at a later date.

Charlottetown Police Services responded to a complaint of domestic violence at 10:50 am on Friday (Oct 2).  The assault occurred at a Charlottetown residence . The female victim did not require any medical treatment.

A 27 year old Charlottetown male has been charged with one count of assault.  The accused was released from custody  with conditions and will appear in Provincial Court at a later date.

Charlottetown Police Services responded to a complaint of a suspicious male in a back yard on Hunt Avenue at 7:35 am yesterday (Sept 29).   Upon arrival, Police located the male in possession of several items that had been stolen out of a shed on the property.

A 29 year old Charlottetown male was arrested and subsequently charged with Break and Enter and Breach of Probation.  He was remanded in custody and will appear in Provincial Court later today.

Charlottetown Police Services are investigating the theft of a motorcycle that occurred sometime overnight (Sun/Mon).

The motorcycle was stolen from  a carrier on the back of a motorhome that was parked in the student parking lot near the Belvedere Ave roundabout (across from the Farmer’s Market).   The motorcycle would have had to be pushed away or loaded onto a trailer or truck.

The motorcycle is a Kawasaki KE 100, as seen in the picture below.

Over the weekend Charlottetown Police Services performed rolling road checks at various points around the city. North River Rd- St. Peter’s Rd- Kent street.

As a result over a dozen charges were laid for various highway traffic infractions.

Charlottetown  Police Service would like to remind all the travelling public that we all play a part in keeping our island roads safe.
