Break and Enter – Charges Laid

On Wednesday Nov 18th Charlottetown Police Services responded to a Break and Enter into a Business property on Queen Street.   As a result of the investigation, Police arrested a 37 year old Charlottetown male last night.   He has been charged with break and enter and breach of probation.

He will remain in custody until his next court appearance at a later date.

UPDATE: Nov 19 @ 15:00 –  Police wish to thank the public for their assistance, the stolen vehicle has been recovered.

Charlottetown Police Services are investigating the theft of a 10 foot U-Haul Truck.  The truck was rented from the Capital Drive rental location on November 2nd and was never returned.

The truck has a unique identification number on the box of the truck TM6472R.   It should also be bearing Arizona license # AH77521.

Over the last week Charlottetown Police Services has seen an increased volume of complaints reporting thefts from vehicles.

Several communities have been affected:

  • East Royalty
  • Sherwood/Stonepark
  • Lewis Point

Charlottetown Police will be stepping up patrols in these areas.

Residents can take some effective and simple preventative measures such as:

  1. Do not leave valuables such as purses, wallets and electronic devices in vehicles
  2. Always keep your doors locked

Residents are also encouraged to immediately report suspicious activity to Police.

At 2:40pm yesterday (Nov 16), Charlottetown Police Services responded to a complaint of an altercation between two males on Kent Street.

As a result of the investigation, a 35 year old Charlottetown male has been charged with possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose (knife) and breach of probation.

Both men were known to each, this was not a random act.  The altercation was not physical and no injuries were sustained.

The accused was released with conditions and will appear in Provincial Court at a later date.

At 9:20pm last night, Charlottetown Police Services responded to a complaint of a suspicious male walking through yards on St Peters Road.  The male was yelling and carrying an aluminum baseball bat.  Police located the male on Tara Heights, he was intoxicated and carrying an aluminum bat.  The male was arrested without incident and taken into custody.

A 41 year old Charlottetown male has been charged with trespass at night, causing a disturbance and possession of a weapon for dangerous purposes.  He has been released with conditions and will appear in Provincial Court at a later date.

At 8:00 pm Friday evening (Nov 13), while on routine patrol, Charlottetown Police observed a vehicle driving erratically on Riverside Drive.  As the Police vehicle turned around, the suspect vehicle was observed accelerating in an attempt to evade Officers.  The vehicle was located a short time later parked in the Hillsborough Hospital parking lot with the driver still in it.

The driver, a 19 year old Charlottetown male was subsequently charged under the Highway Traffic Act with two summary offence tickets of failing to have insurance and failing to have vehicle registration.

Shortly after midnight on Sunday morning, Charlottetown Police Services responded to a complaint of a large gathering at a residence on Queen Street.

Upon Police arrival, a large group was observed inside residential property.  Police spoke to the property representative and instructed her to have the guests leave as they were exceeding the maximum of 20 persons guideline established by the Provincial Chief Public Health Officer.  The group complied and dispersed without incident.

A 24 year old Charlottetown female was issued a $1000 fine under section 39(8) of the Public Health Act which prohibits indoor personal gatherings in excess of 20 people.

At 10:00 pm Saturday night (Nov 7), Charlottetown Police Services responded to a complaint of a possible impaired driver on Great George Street.  The vehicle was located on Great George Street and  Police determined that the driver, a 58 year old Charlottetown male was impaired by alcohol and was subsequently charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle.  The accused will be appearing in Provincial Court at a later date.

Charlottetown Police Services are requesting the public’s help in identifying the male depicted in the attached video.  The suspect stole items from a vehicle on Ambrose Street.

At 6:05 am this morning, Charlottetown Police Services responded to a complaint of a possible impaired driver on Prince Street.  The vehicle was located on Grafton Street and pulled over.   Police determined that the driver, a 25 year old Charlottetown male was impaired by alcohol and was subsequently charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle.  The accused will be appearing in Provincial Court at a later date.
