Two Impaired Drivers Charged Over The Weekend

At 9:00pm on Friday night, Charlottetown Police Services responded to a complaint of a possible impaired driver on Kent Street.  Police located the vehicle on Euston Street and  performed a traffic stop.  The driver displayed signs of being impaired by alcohol and was arrested.

A 26 year old Cornwall female was subsequently charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle.  The accused will appear in Provincial Court at a later date.

At 1:50 am on Saturday morning, Police responded to a complaint of a possible impaired driver that had left Cornwall and was driving towards Charlottetown.  Officers located the vehicle on Darrach Street and conducted a traffic stop.  The driver displayed signs of being impaired by alcohol and was arrested.

A 24 year old Charlottetown female was subsequently charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle.  The accused will appear in Provincial Court at a later date.

At 8:00 pm last night, Charlottetown Police Services responded to a complaint of a possible impaired driver on St Peters Road. Officers located the vehicle in a parking lot and determined that the vehicle driver displayed signs of being impaired by alcohol and was arrested.

A 17 year old Emyvale male was subsequently charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle.  The accused will appear in Provincial Court at a later date.

Charlottetown Police Services responded to a domestic violence complaint at 9:45 pm last night (Jan 11).

As a result of the investigation, a 67 year old Charlottetown male has been charged with assault with a weapon and forcible confinement .  The accused has been released from custody with conditions to have no contact with the victim and will appear in Provincial Court at a later date.

At 4:20 am on Sunday morning (Jan 10th), Charlottetown Police Services responded to an alarm call at the West Royalty Liquor Store.  Upon arrival Police noticed a smashed window and entry made inside the main entrance. The suspect then attempted to break through a secondary window but failed and did not gain entry into the store.   Officers from the Street Crime Unit were called in to assist in the investigation.

The investigation led to the identification of two suspects and within an hour, the suspects were located driving on the Hillsborough Bridge. The vehicle was pulled over, both individuals were arrested and taken into custody.

A 26 year old Anglo Rustico woman has been charged with break and enter, resist arrest and assault on a Police Officer.

A 28 year old Stratford man has been charged with break and enter, assault on a Police Officer and breach of probation.

Both have been remanded in custody and will appear in Provincial Court at a later date.

At 11:30 pm last night, Charlottetown Police Services responded to a complaint of a possible impaired driver on Kent Street. Officers located the vehicle on University Avenue and initiated a traffic stop.  The vehicle driver displayed signs of being impaired by alcohol and was arrested.

A 38 year old Charlottetown male was subsequently charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle after providing breath samples that were twice the legal limit.  The accused will appear in Provincial Court at a later date.

Charlottetown Police Services responded to a complaint of damage caused to a community mailbox on St Peters Road that occurred on January 4th.

A suspect was identified from video surveillance and as a result, a 39 year old Charlottetown male has been charged with mischief under $5000 dollars and will appear in Provincial Court at a later date.

Charlottetown Police Services responded to a domestic violence complaint at 10:10 pm last night (Jan 4).

As a result of the investigation, A 27 year old Hazelbrook male has been charged with one count of assault.  The accused will be released from custody today with conditions to have no contact with the victim and will appear in Provincial Court at a later date.

On December 18th, Charlottetown Police Services conducted roadside check stops as part of it’s Christmas Holiday Road Safety Initiative.

Police checked vehicles at three locations (Arterial Highway by the Upton Road, Wright’s Bridge on the St Peters Road and the intersection at Kent and Prince Streets) . A total of 7 Highway Traffic Act and Liquor Control Act charges were laid.
As part of this Initiative, Charlottetown Polices Services will be conducting additional roadside check stops over the Holiday Season in an effort to deter motorists from driving while impaired.

PLAN AHEAD – If you’re planning on consuming alcohol or other intoxicating substances,  make arrangements for a sober driver before you go out.

While on routine patrol at 05:45 am this morning (Dec 23), patrol Officers performed a traffic stop on a suspicious vehicle on Grafton Street.  The vehicle  driver displayed signs of being impaired by alcohol and was arrested.

A 29 year old Charlottetown male was subsequently charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle.  The accused will appear in Provincial Court at a later date.

At 3:00 am Sunday morning (Dec 20), Charlottetown Police Services responded to a call of a possible impaired driver on Route 2 (Marshfield area) that was heading towards Charlottetown.  One of the responding Officers located the vehicle in the Norwood Road/St Peters Road roundabout.  The vehicle did stop for Police but fled moments later.   The vehicle was located a short time later on Friar Drive, the driver fled on foot but was arrested a short time later and taken into custody.   Police also determined that the vehicle he was driving had been stolen from Stratford.

As a result of the investigation, a 24 year old Charlottetown male has been charged with multiple offences:

  • Flight from Police
  • Dangerous operation of a motor vehicle
  • Obstruct Police Officer
  • Breach of Probation (2 counts)

The accused is also facing several other charges from stealing the vehicle in Stratford. In total, 13 charges have been laid.

The accused has been remanded in custody and will appear in Provincial Court this afternoon.
