Impaired Driving – Charges Laid

While on routine patrol at 3:45 this morning, Officers noticed a vehicle that was driving erratically and pulled it over on North River Road.  The vehicle driver displayed signs of being impaired by alcohol and was arrested.

A 24 year old Clyde River female was subsequently charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle.  The accused will appear in Provincial Court at a later date.

At approximately 4:20 pm on Sunday afternoon (Jan 17), Charlottetown Police Services responded to a report of vehicle collision that occurred at the intersection of St Peters Road and Francis Lane.  While on scene at this collision, Police were told that the same vehicle had collided with two other vehicles at the St Peters Road and Arterial Highway intersection.

The first collision occurred on the Arterial Highway.  Two vehicles were stopped in the left turn lane waiting to proceed north-east onto St Peters Road (towards Mount Stewart).  The suspect vehicle approached from the rear, attempted to go around both stopped vehicles  and collided with both of them.  The suspect vehicle then continued on it’s way in the same direction.

Minutes later, a second collision occurred when a vehicle traveling south-west on St Peters road was rear ended by the suspect vehicle near the intersection of St Peters Road and Francis Lane.  The suspect vehicle then proceed in the same direction and turn right onto Duncan Heights.

The suspect vehicle was located the following day and pictured below.

Police would like to speak with anyone that may know who was driving this vehicle at the time of the collisions or anyone that may have video that may assist in Identifying the driver. While on routine patrol yesterday afternoon, Officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop on University Avenue.  The vehicle fled from Police through a business parking lot.   Police were able to keep sight of the vehicle which eventually got stuck in traffic and pulled over for Officers. While dealing with the two vehicle occupants, Police discovered stolen items in the rear of the vehicle.

A 35 year old Charlottetown male has been charged with flight from police, theft under $5000 dollars and breach of probation.  The passenger of the vehicle, a 20 year old Charlottetown female has also been charged with theft under $5000 and breach of probation.

Both have been released with conditions and will appear in Provincial Court at a later date.

Charlottetown Police Services would like to inform the public that there has been some reports of phone calls being made to Charlottetown businesses requesting donations for the Autism Society of PEI.

This is a phone scam and residents and businesses are urged to ignore these requests and hang up.   The Autism Society of PEI has confirmed that they are NOT currently doing any fund raising at this time.

On Saturday at 7:45 pm, Charlottetown Police Services responded to a complaint of a sexual assault at a residence in Charlottetown.  The incident was not at random and there is no risk to the public.

As the result of the investigation, a 27 year old Charlottetown male has been charged with sexual assault with a weapon and breach of probation.  The accused was remanded in custody and will appear in Provincial Court later today.

Charlottetown Police Services responded to a complaint of breach of a no contact order at a City residence on Sunday.   The complainant reported to Police that her husband, whom was on an Undertaking to have no contact with her stemming from an Assault charge in November had entered her residence.

As a result of the investigation, a 34 year old Charlottetown man has been charged with breach of an undertaking and was lodged at the Provincial Correctional Center.   He will appear in Provincial Court at a later date.

Charlottetown Police Services responded to a domestic violence complaint at 11:20 pm Saturday night (Jan 16). The victim suffered minor injuries that were treated on scene by IEMS.

As a result of the investigation, a 52 year old Charlottetown male has been charged with assault causing bodily harm.

The accused has been released from custody with conditions to have no contact with the victim and will appear in Provincial Court at a later date.
