Assault Charges Laid

At 5:15 pm yesterday (Feb 3), Charlottetown Police Services responded to an assault complaint that occurred on Kent Street.  A female was assaulted when she asked a male that was loitering to leave the business premise.  The female victim was treated on scene by IEMS and did not require further medical attention.  The male was located a short time later and arrested.

A 24 year old Charlottetown male has been charged with assault and will be released from custody later this morning with conditions to have no contact with the victim.  He will appear in Provincial Court at a later date.

At approximately 3:35 pm on Saturday afternoon (Jan 30), Charlottetown Police Services responded to a report of vehicle collision that occurred on the Arterial Highway near the St Peters Road Intersection.

A grey 2020 Kia Soul turned left from the St Peters Road onto the Arterial Highway heading west, moments after turning onto the Arterial Highway, a white 1/2 ton pick up truck approached from the rear and struck the passenger side of the Kia Soul.  The suspect vehicle then continued on it’s way in the same direction without stopping and headed towards the Brackley Point Road. The suspect vehicle is described as an older model white 1/2 ton pick up truck and should have damage to the drivers side front end of the vehicle.

On Friday (January 29th) Charlottetown Police Services arrested a 42 year old Charlottetown male in connection to several reports of damage to property.  Since January 19th, Police were investigating several incidents where someone had been causing damage (cutting telephone and furnace oil lines) to several buildings on Oak Drive.

The accused has been charged with mischief under $5000 dollars.  He has been released with conditions and will appear in Provincial Court at a later date.

At 9:00  pm last night  (Jan 29), Charlottetown Police Services responded to a complaint from a retail store reporting that a shoplifter had left the store with approximately $900.00 dollars worth of merchandise.  Police were provided with video surveillance of the male suspect. While on routing patrol at 00:30 am this morning, Police located the suspect male walking on Euston Street and arrested him.

A 31 year old Charlottetown male has been charged with theft under $5000 dollars and breach of probation.  He was released from custody with conditions and will appear in Provincial Court at a later date.

Charlottetown Police Services responded to a suspicious vehicle complaint on Grafton Street on Friday night.  Upon arrival, Police located a male sleeping inside the vehicle and a clear bag in plain view containing a quantity of pills.

As a result of the investigation, a 25 year old Emyvale man has been charged with Possession of a drugs (MDMA commonly known as ecstasy).  He was released from custody and will appear in Provincial Court at a later date.

Charlottetown Police Services responded to a domestic violence complaint at 11:10 am Friday (Jan 22).  The female victim did not require any medical attention.

As a result of the investigation, a 27 year old Charlottetown male has been charged with assault.

The accused has been remanded in custody and will appear in Provincial Court later today.

At 12:30 am on Saturday morning (Jan 23), Charlottetown Police Services responded to a complaint of a single vehicle collision that occurred on the Lower Malpeque Road.  The vehicle left the road and struck a utility pole, then continued through two residential yards and came to rest against a tree.  The vehicle sustained significant damage. The driver was treated by IEMS for minor facial scrapes and cuts but did not require further medical attention.  Police determined that the driver was impaired by alcohol and was arrested.

A 32 year old Summerside male was subsequently charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle after he provided breath samples that were three times the legal limit.  The accused was lodge in jail overnight and will appear in Provincial Court at a later date.

At 6:00 pm yesterday  (Jan 21), Charlottetown Police Services responded to a complaint from a retail store reporting that a shoplifter had just left the store with a cart full of stolen merchandise.  Police attended and located the suspect in the parking lot.

A 49 year old Charlottetown male has been charged with theft under $5000 dollars.  He was released from custody with conditions and will appear in Provincial Court at a later date.
