Charlottetown Police Services are investigating the theft of a vehicle from a business on Spring Lane. It was reported stolen Wednesday morning and believed to have occurred overnight.

The vehicle is a grey 2007 Buick Allure which was bearing PEI plate A591F at the time of the theft.  The picture below is similar to the one stolen.

Yesterday morning (Aug 17) at 10:20 am , Charlottetown Police Street Crime Unit arrested a male following a targeted traffic stop on Belvedere Avenue and seized a quantity of hydromorphone tablets.

A 60 year old Charlottetown male has been charged with possession of drugs for the purpose of trafficking.

This is the second drug trafficking charge against the accused in just over a month,  he was arrested and charged for the same offence on July 14th.  He has been remanded in custody and will appear in Provincial Court tomorrow for a show cause hearing.

Charlottetown Police Services have charged three (3) persons with impaired driving over the weekend.

File: 20211203055 – At 12:35 pm Saturday afternoon, Police responded to a complaint of a possible impaired driver on Capital Drive. Police located and pulled the vehicle over on Pond Street.  The driver displayed signs of being impaired by alcohol and was arrested.

A 40 year old Charlottetown female was subsequently charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle after providing breath samples that were over three (3) times the legal limit.

File: 20211205939 – At 10:00 pm Saturday night,  Charlottetown Police Services responded to a complaint of a single vehicle roll over on the Perimeter Highway.  Fortunately there were no injuries to the driver or passenger.  Upon speaking with the driver, Police determined that she was impaired by alcohol and was arrested.

A 22 year old Charlottetown female was subsequently charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle.

File: 20211207178 – At 2:00 am Sunday morning, Police responded to a complaint of a possible impaired driver on Southdale Avenue.  Police located and pulled the vehicle over.  The driver displayed signs of being impaired by alcohol and was arrested.

A 27 year old Charlottetown male was subsequently charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle.

All charged individuals will appear in Provincial Court at a later date.

Charlottetown Police Services is investigating damage to several bus shelters overnight.

Five bus shelters had the glass smashed out them overnight:

  • Buchanan Drive (near Mark’s Work Wearhouse)
  • 659 University Ave (near Starbucks)
  • 465 University Ave (near Indigo)
  • 403 University Ave (near Shopper’s Drug Mart)
  • 365 University Ave (near Dairy Queen)

At 1:10 am this morning (Aug 13), Charlottetown Police Services responded to a complaint of persons spray painting graffiti in the area of King and Queen Streets.

With the assistance from the public, Police located and arrested two individuals.   An 18 year old Charlottetown woman and a 15 year old Charlottetown male youth have been charged with mischief under $5000.  Both have been released on conditions and will appear in Provincial Court at a later date.  The charges may be upgraded to mischief over $5000 as estimates to clean the graffiti may surpass 5000 dollars.  A third suspect has been identified and will be dealt with once located.

Several businesses and residences fell victim to the graffiti.  Police expect to receive more complaints of graffiti damage to their properties today.  The investigation is ongoing and Police ask the public to check their properties and if graffiti is found to call Police and report it.

At 1:15 am this morning, Charlottetown Polices Services responded to a 911 call reporting that a light standard was blocking the road on Riverside Drive following a single vehicle accident.

Police attended the scene to observe debris and the light standard on the road.  The unoccupied vehicle involved in the collision was located a short distance away.  Police did located the vehicle driver a short time later.   Impairment was not a factor with the collision however, a 42 year old Charlottetown man was issued two tickets under the Highway Traffic Act for driving while suspended and failing to report the accident to Police.

At 10:20 pm last night (Aug 10), Charlottetown Police Services responded to a complaint of an unwanted person on Weymouth Street.  Upon Police arrival, the male was observed carrying a large rock and is alleged to have run towards the Police vehicle and threw the rock striking the rear portion of the vehicle .   Police arrested the male whom was experiencing a mental health episode.  He was brought to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital for assessment.  The matter remains under investigation and charges are pending.

Charlottetown Police Services recently had the pleasure to lead the PEI Antique Car Club parade through four different long-term care facilities in Charlottetown.  A big thank you to Rudy Croken and members of the Antique Car Club.  The parade saw fourteen antique vehicles including the 1952 Dodge Police Cruiser.  The residents truly enjoyed seeing the antique vehicles drive by.

Charlottetown Police Services responded to twelve (12) complaints of possible impaired drivers over the weekend, three (3) of which have resulted in charges being laid.

File: 20211160492 – At 11:15 pm Friday night, Police responded to a complaint of a possible impaired driver on Brighton Road. Police located and pulled the vehicle over.  The driver displayed signs of being impaired by alcohol and was arrested.

A 20 year old Charlottetown male was subsequently charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle.

File: 20211160560 – At 11:40 pm Friday night,  Charlottetown Police Services responded to a complaint of a possible impaired driver on MacWilliams Road.  Police located the vehicle on the Brackley Point Road and pulled it over. The driver displayed signs of being impaired by alcohol and was arrested.

A 56 year old Mount Stewart female was subsequently charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle after providing breath samples that were almost three (3) times the legal limit.

File: 20211170773 – Shortly after 8:00 pm last night, Police responded to a complaint of a possible impaired driver on Mount Edward Road.  Police located and pulled the vehicle over.  The driver displayed signs of being impaired by alcohol and was arrested.

A 38 year old Charlottetown male was subsequently charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle after providing breath samples that were almost three (3) times the legal limit.

All charged individuals will appear in Provincial Court at a later date.
