UPDATE – RECOVERED – Stolen U-Haul Truck – Public Assistance

Charlottetown Police Services is investigating the theft of a U-Haul moving truck. The vehicle was rented on December 2nd from the U-haul business on Capital Drive in Charlottetown.  The truck has not been returned and is considered stolen.

The vehicle is a 2017 Ford F650 enclosed truck (26 foot), it was bearing Arizona plate AH27574 at the time of the theft.   The picture below is similar to the one stolen.

Charlottetown Police Services Street Crime Unit, with the assistance from the Rapid Tactical Deployment Unit and Patrol Officers executed a Controlled Drugs and Substance Act Search Warrant at a residence on the Sleepy Hollow Road Saturday morning (Dec 3, 2022) at approximately 1:00 am.

The search resulted in the seizure of:

  • 2 kilograms of crystal meth
  • 114 grams of cocaine
  • 2811 tablets of speed (methamphetamine)
  • 1075 dilaudid pills
  • 889 grams of cannabis
  • Street value of drugs is approximately $320,000.00 dollars
  • $3400.00 cash
  • one replica airsoft/bb guns
  • other drug paraphernalia

A 47 year old Charlottetown male has been charged with three (3) counts of CDSA 5(2) –  Possession of drugs for the purpose of trafficking.  The investigation is ongoing and may result with further charges being laid.

The accused remains in custody and will appear in court later this week for a show cause hearing.

Charlottetown Police Service is investigating a theft of fence sections from the Canadas Best Value Hotel at 20 Capital Drive.   The theft occurred sometime last night.  A total of 11 sections were stolen from behind the Hotel and would have required a large enough vehicle or trailer to haul them away.   Each section is approximately 8 feet wide and pictured below.

Charlottetown Police Services have charged two individuals with impaired driving early Saturday morning in separate incidents.

File: 20221704695 – At approximately 1:00 am Saturday morning (Nov 26), while on routine patrol, Officers noticed a vehicle driving erratically and pulled it over on MacKinnon Road.  Once the vehicle stopped, a passenger got out and ran from the scene, meanwhile, the driver placed the car back in drive and for unknown reasons, drove the vehicle into the ditch where it got stuck.  The driver displayed signs of impairment by alcohol and was arrested.

A 23 year old Charlottetown male provided breath sample over twice the legal limit and was subsequently charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle.

File: 20221705079 – At 3:00 am Saturday morning (Nov 26),  Charlottetown Police Services responded to a complaint of a possible impaired driver on Queen Street.   Officers located the vehicle on Riverside Drive and pulled it over.  Officers determined that the driver was impaired by alcohol and was arrested.

A 47 year old  Donaldston male was charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle.

All charged individuals will appear in Provincial Court at a later date.

At 3:50 am this morning (Nov23, 2022), Charlottetown Police Services responded to a complaint of  a suspicious male checking vehicles in a parking lot on Waterview Heights.

Several Police units made an immediate patrol and the suspect was located nearby and taken into custody.

As the result of the investigation, a 39 year old Charlottetown male has been charged with theft under $5000 dollars from a motor vehicle and breach of probation.   The accused has 15 other unrelated pending charges before the courts and has been remanded in custody.  He will appear in Provincial Court at a later date.

At 7:05 pm yesterday (Nov 21), Charlottetown Police Services responded to a robbery complaint at a local business in the North end of the city.

The suspect was detained by staff and arrested upon Police arrival.

A 27 year old Charlottetown male has been charged with robbery and breach of probation.  He has been remanded in custody and will appear in Provincial Court tomorrow for a show cause hearing.

Charlottetown Police Services responded to a suspicious person complaint on Sunday November 6th at approximately 5:00pm.

Through the course of the investigation,  Police learned that three children that were outside along Prince Charles Drive were approached by a male in a vehicle who yelled obscenities at them and continued on his way.

The male is described as having a short red beard, bald or balding, wearing a black t-shirt and black gaming headphones that covered his ears.

The vehicle is described as a silver four door sedan.  The actual vehicle is seen on the attached video clip, it was heading towards Goodwill Ave.

At 7:30 pm on Saturday evening, Charlottetown Police Services responded to a complaint of several fights taking place on the ice surface during a hockey game at the Bell Alliant Centre.

The investigation is ongoing and Police are awaiting for all statements and any video evidence to be obtained to determine if charges will be laid.

At 6:15 pm on Friday Nov 18, 2022, Charlottetown Police Services responded to a Robbery complaint at a business on University Avenue.

A male had entered the establishment and with a pair of scissors in hand, he proceeded to the cash register, opened it and took money out of the till.   He then left without further interaction with staff. Although shaken up by the incident, staff was not injured. Video surveillance was used to identify the suspect whom was known to Police.

The suspect was located Saturday evening and arrested.

A 31 year old Charlottetown male has been charged with Robbery and Breach of Probation.   He has been remanded in custody and will appear in Provincial Court on Thursday.
