Street Crime Unit Conduct Targeted Traffic Stop and Execute Search Warrant

Charlottetown Police Services Street Crime Unit with the assistance of Patrol Officers conducted a targeted traffic stop on Allen Street Friday afternoon (Feb 10) at approximately 5:10pm.

The suspect attempted to flee from Police during this traffic stop but got caught up in traffic on Allen Street at which point Officers were able to arrest him without incident.   Subsequent to the arrest, the Street Crime Unit executed a Controlled Drug and Substance Act Search Warrant at his residence in Mill Cove.

Officers seized 219 speed pills, 77 grams of cocaine and over one thousand dollars in cash.

71 year old Earl Rodger GAUTHIER of Millcove has been charged with two counts of CDSA 5(2) –  Possession of drugs for the purpose of trafficking, flight from Police and dangerous driving.

This is the second time in just over two weeks that GAUTHIER has been charged with CDSA offences, he was arrested and charged with two counts of possession of drugs for the purpose of trafficking on January 24, 2023.  He was released with conditions at that time.

The accused has been remanded in custody until his next court date on Thurday Feb 16th.

The public is being informed of a new text scam that Police were made aware of last night.

The scammer sends a text message advising of overdue tickets with a link attached.  Actual text image below.

At approximately 10:20 am yesterday morning  (Jan 31), Charlottetown Police Services responded to a 3 vehicle collision at the intersection of Beach Grove Road and North River Road.  While on route, Police were advised that one vehicle left the scene and was traveling south on North River Road,  One of the responding Officers was able to locate and pull the vehicle over near Nassau Street.  While interacting with this drivers, the Officer determined that he was impaired by alcohol.   He was subsequently arrested and provided breath sample that were over twice the legal limit. One person did sustain minor injuries that did not require medical attention.

A 68 year old Charlottetown male was charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle and will appear in Provincial Court at a later date.

On January 14, 2023 at 11:45 pm, Charlottetown Police Services responded to a complaint of a downed light pole at the intersection of Grafton Street and Water Street.   Upon review of the E-Watch video surveillance at that intersection, a red pick up truck (pictured below) heading north/west on the Hillsborough Bridge is seen turning left onto Water Street and strike the light pole.   The truck did not remain on scene and continued westbound on Water Street.    The truck should have significant damage on the front passenger side.

Charlottetown Police Services Street Crime Unit with the assistance of Patrol Officers conducted a targeted traffic stop on St Peters Road  and simultaneously executed a Controlled Drug and Substance Act Search Warrant at a residence in Mill Cove yesterday evening (Jan 24).

The search resulted in the seizure of:

  • 34.5 grams of cocaine
  • 54 grams of dried cannabis
  • 50 speed pills (methamphetamine)
  • a replica hand gun
  • knives
  • $9190.00 cash seized
  • other drug paraphernalia

A 71 year old Millcove male has been charged with two counts of CDSA 5(2) –  Possession of drugs for the purpose of trafficking.

The accused was released from custody with conditions and will appear in Provincial Court at a later date.

At 12;20 pm yesterday afternoon (Jan 24), Charlottetown Police Services responded to a report of a male that had broken several windows at the Sherwood Business Centre.

Upon arrival Police learned that a male had attended the business centre and was agitated and causing a disturbance.  The male was asked to leave the premise and did so but returned 20 minutes later and began to break windows at random.

The male was located in the area and arrested without incident.

A 29 year old Truro male has been charged with mischief over $5000 dollars and failing to comply with a release order.   He was transported to the QEH for a mental health assessment.  The accused will appear in Provincial Court at a later date.

Charlottetown Police responded to an alarm at the Oak Tree Liquor Store this morning at 4:25 am.   A store window was smashed and a quantity of liquor had been stolen.  The male was captured on video surveillance and a suspect was identified.

At 9:30 am, Police located the suspect and arrested him without incident.   A 36 year old Charlottetown male has been charged with one count of Break and Enter.   The accused has been remanded in custody and will appear in Provincial Court on Thursday.

At 4:00 am Monday morning, Charlottetown Police Services responded to a complaint of two suspicious males checking cars on Greenfield Avenue.    Officers followed the fresh footwear prints in the snow and located a male on York Lane.   The male, a prolific offender well known to Police was arrested.   As a result of the investigation a 31 year old Charlottetown male was charged with trespass at night and breach of probation.

The accused was released on conditions and will appear in Provincial Court at a later date.

At approximately 6:20 pm Saturday evening  (Jan 21), while on routine patrol, an Officer witnessed a three vehicle collision at the intersection of University and Allen Streets, no injuries reported. While interacting with one of the drivers, the Officer determined that she was impaired by alcohol.   She was subsequently arrested and provided breath sample that were over twice the legal limit.

A 40 year old Charlottetown  female was charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle and will appear in Provincial Court at a later date.

On Wednesday night (Jan 11) at 11:45 pm , Charlottetown Police Street Crime Unit with the assistance of Patrol units arrested a male and female following a targeted traffic stop on Cumberland Street.

The search resulted in the seizure of:

  • 49 grams of crystal met
  • 47.5 grams of cocaine
  • 72 dilaudid pills
  • Street value of drugs is approximately $16,000.00 dollars
  • $3245.00 cash seized
  • other drug paraphernalia

A 36 year old male and a 38 year old female, both from Charlottetown,  have been charged with three (3) counts of CDSA 5(2), Possession of drugs for the purpose of trafficking and breach of probation.

Both have been released with conditions and will appear in Provincial Court at a later date.
