Counterfeit 50 & 100 Dollar Bills

Charlottetown Police Services are warning the public that counterfeit $50.00 and $100.00 bills have been circulating in the Charlottetown, Summerside and Cornwall area recently.

The counterfeit $100.00 bills have serial # FKW2138818 and GJS6886988.  The $50.00 bills have serial # DB66688803, AHT1398324 and AHZ2923470.

This particular run of counterfeit bills does contain the transparent security panel, however, a close examination of the bill will show this transparent strip is cut from an actual 5.00 dollar bill and taped to the paper portion of the 50 and 100 bills as seen below.  Normally the small transparent print would read either 50 or 100 depending on the denominations.

Merchants and the general public are asked to be extra vigilant when accepting $50.00 and $100.00 bills during cash transactions.

Any person who suspects they are being presented with a counterfeit bill or who has already accepted a counterfeit bill is asked to contact the Charlottetown Police Services at 902-629-4172.

Anyone with information regarding the source of the counterfeit bills may contact police at 902-629-4172, complete the tip section below or contact PEI Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
