The search resulted in the seizure of a quantity of cocaine, several boxes of contraband tobacco containing 46,200 cigarettes, drug paraphernalia indicative of drug trafficking activities and over 80,000.00 dollars in cash.

Charlottetown resident, Kirk Joseph ALLAIN 44 years of age, has been charged with:

  • CDSA 5(2) – Possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking
  • CCC section 121.1 – Possession of unstamped tobacco for the purpose of sale

This is the second CDSA charge the accused is facing within the last two months.  On September 18th, the  Street Crime Unit performed a targeted traffic stop in which 43 grams of cocaine and a replica firearm were seized resulting in the following charges being laid at that time:

  • CDSA 5(2) – Possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking
  • CCC section 117.01 – Possession of a weapon contrary to a firearm/weapons prohibition order.

The accused has been remanded in custody and will appear in Provincial Court at a later date.

At approximately 10:55pm last night (Nov 9), Charlottetown Police Services responded to a robbery complaint that occurred in a business parking near the intersection of Mount Edward Road and Belvedere Avenue.

Upon arrival, Police learned that the female victim was walking to work and was suddenly confronted by a male that had been behind a dumpster in the parking lot.   The suspect yelled at her to give him her bag and grabbed it from her hand.  The female ran to her place of work and called Police.

Police located the suspect a short distance away and arrested him without incident.

A 29 year old Charlottetown male has been charged with Robbery and has been remanded in custody.

Charlottetown Police Services is seeking public assistance in identifying this suspect vehicle or known owner that was involved in a hit and run vehicle collision on Oct 27 at approximately 7:50am on Beasley Avenue.  The vehicle was seen crossing the Hillsborough Bridge towards Stratford after the collision.

At 6:00am yesterday morning (Nov 6) Charlottetown Police Services responded to a report of a tent on fire across the street from the Park Street shelter.

Upon arrival, the fire had been extinguished by Shelter staff.  Witnesses told Police there was a male that was sleeping in the tent at the time of the fire and that staff were able to get him out of the tent.   The victim was treated by IEMS for smoke inhalation and later released.

The Charlottetown Police Services Major Crime Unit, Street Crime Unit and the Charlottetown Fire Inspector were called in to assist with this investigation. Video surveillance was reviewed and a suspect was identified.   Both the suspect and the victim were known to each other and deemed an isolated incident.

The suspect was located on St Peters Road at 5:00pm yesterday afternoon and arrested without incident.

A 30 year old Charlottetown male has been charged with attempted murder, arson, breach of probation and breach of recognizance order.   The accused appeared in court today and has been remanded in custody.

File: 20231637536 – At approximately  12:25am Saturday morning (Nov 4), Officers responded to a complaint of a male slumped over the steering wheel  and suspect the driver may be impaired.  The vehicle was located stationary on Pownal Street with the driver in the same position as reported.   The responding Officer was able to wake the driver and determined that he was impaired by alcohol and was arrested.  The driver was brought to the Police Station and provided breath samples that were over the legal limit.

A 44 year old Ontario male has been charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle and will appear in Provincial Court at a later date.

File: 20231637948 – At approximately 2:10 am Saturday morning (Nov 4),  while on routine patrol, Police observed a vehicle driving erratically and pulled it over on Queen Street.  Police determined that the driver was impaired by alcohol and placed under arrest.  The driver provided breath sample that were over the legal limit.

A 46 year old Charlottetown woman was subsequently charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle and will appear in Provincial Court at a later date.

Charlottetown Police Services is reminding the public  to  plan ahead and never get behind the wheel when their ability to drive is impaired by drugs or alcohol.

The Police Service wishes to thank concerned citizens for reporting possible impaired drivers.   The public is encouraged to report instances of suspected impaired driving by calling 911.
