Impaired Driving – Charges Laid

Charlottetown Police Services responded to a complaint of a possible impaired driver on Kent Street. The suspect vehicle was located by officers and it was determined that the driver was impaired by alcohol.A 37 year old Charlottetown man has been charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle and will appear in Provincial Court at a later date.Charlottetown Police Services encourage the public to report any instances of impaired driving…Call 911.

Charlottetown Police Services continue the search for Craig Johnston, who was reported missing late Friday, November 16th, 2018.

Mr. Johnston was last seen at his residence just prior to midnight on Wednesday, November 14th, 2018.

Johnston is a Caucasian male, 6 feet tall, 174 pounds, with light brown hair and blue eyes. At the time of his disappearance, Johnston may have been wearing a black wind breaker and the beige and green winter hat shown in the attached photo. Johnston may have also been carrying a black kit bag.

Police are asking for public assistance in this case; in particular people residing within the area indicated on the attached map are asked to check their properties and out buildings.

Charlottetown Police Services Street Crime Unit have laid charges in connection to multiple theft files.

Investigators were called to the Bell Aliant Centre on November 13th in relation to someone stealing an ATM machine. The investigation led to the identification of the suspect, whom was also a suspect in several other theft files within the City.Yesterday the suspect was located and arrested. The accused, a 38 Charlottetown man, has been charged with:

  • 334(a) Theft over $5000 – 1 count
  • 334(b) Theft under $5000 – 4 counts
  • 430(1) Mischief under $5000 – 1 count
  • 742.6 Breach of a Conditional Sentence Order – 1 count
  • 733.1 Breach of Probation – 5 counts
  • 145(3) Fail to comply with an Undertaking given to a Justice of the Peace – 5 counts

Other investigations are ongoing and further charges are expected.

The accused has been remanded in custody and will appear in Provincial Court Thursday at 10am.

While conducting a vehicle stop on Queen Street late Saturday night, Charlottetown Police found that the vehicle was bearing a stolen license plate. The license plate had been stolen from Moncton New Brunswick in September. Further investigation led to the discovery that the vehicle itself was also reported stolen in September from the Springhill PEI area.The vehicle driver, a 41 year old Kensington man has been charged with two counts of possession of property obtained by crime and one count of breach of probation.The accused is scheduled to appear in Provincial Court at a later date.

Charlottetown Police Services investigated a complaint of a possible impaired driver after being flagged down by a concerned citizen. The suspect vehicle was located on the corner of Great George Street and Euston Street. The investigator determined that the driver was impaired and was subsequently charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle.The 45 year old Charlottetown man will appear in Provincial Court at a later date.Charlottetown Police Services encourage the public to report any instances of impaired driving…Call 911.

Charlottetown Police Services are investigating a hit and run involving a vehicle and a pedestrian.

On Thursday November 8th sometime between 5:00 and 5:30 pm, a female pedestrian was walking east on St Peters Road approaching Ralden Avenue. As she crossed Ralden Avenue a white taxi van did not stop and struck the female on the drivers side. The female was sent onto the bonnet of the van and rolled off as the van as it came to a stop at the intersection.
