Charlottetown Police Services have laid charges in connection with a theft from vehicle that occurred on December 31 2018.
A credit card that had been stolen from the vehicle was used several times at local businesses. The suspect was located and arrested on January 2.
The 45 year old Charlottetown man was charged with two counts of fraudulent use of a credit card, one count of Breach of Probation and one count of Failing to comply to an Undertaking.
The accused appeared in court this morning for a show cause hearing and was remanded in custody. He will appear in Provincial Court at a later date.

Charlottetown Police Services conducted several Road Safety Check Points over the month of December and the Holiday Season.
The increased driving enforcement efforts resulted in numerous charges being laid:
60 Highway Traffic Act charges
4 Highway Traffic Act warnings
2 vehicles were towed for outstanding Highway Traffic Act offences
1 charge under the Cannabis Act (possession while having care and control of a motor vehicle)
1 person charged with Impaired operation of a motor vehicle (by drugs) – December 29 at 4:15pm. A 24 year old man charged with impaired operation (by drugs) of a motor vehicle.
6 other impaired driving charges were laid during the month of December:
December 6 at 4:50pm. A 76 year old man charged with impaired operation (by alcohol) of a motor vehicle.
December 6 at 6:40pm. A 28 year old man charged with impaired operation (by alcohol) of a motor vehicle.
December 9 at 10:40am. A 26 year old woman charged with impaired operation (by drugs) of a motor vehicle.
December 15 at 11:26am. A 31 year old man charged with impaired operation (by alcohol) of a motor vehicle.
December 19 at 11:35pm. A 26 year old man charged with impaired operation (by drugs) of a motor vehicle.
December 24 at 10:10pm. A 25 year old man charged with impaired operation (by alcohol) of a motor vehicle.

Charlottetown Police Services will be increasing Road Safety Check Points over the next 2 days.
Residents of Charlottetown can expect to see Police out in full force over the next 2 days conducting Check Points and traffic enforcement with the purpose of preventing impaired driving.
Impaired driving is one of the leading causes of death related to motor vehicle collisions and is preventable by planning ahead.
Residents planning to celebrate during New Year’s Eve or during the tradition of New Year’s day levees should ensure they have a plan to get home safely, which can include using a taxi, calling a friend/family or having a designated sober driver.

December 23, 2018, as part of an ongoing investigation, members of the CPS “Street Crime Unit” and the uniformed patrol division executed a CDSA Search Warrant at a Charlottetown area residence.
As the result of the search of the suspect residence, police seized a substantial quantity of methamphetamine pills, cash and several weapons.A male and a female who reside in the search location were arrested and were both charged for Possession of methamphetamine for the purpose of trafficking contrary to s. 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act. The accused will appear in court to answer to the charges on a later date.

Charlottetown Police Services are investigating an incident which occurred on Kensington Road during the early morning hours of December 23, 2018.
The incident involved a person being struck by a motor vehicle and receiving serious injuries.Criminal charges have been laid against the driver of the vehicle.The driver of the vehicle has been released from custody and will appear in court on January 31st, 2019.The investigation is ongoing.

Charlottetown Police Services are investigating the theft of a white 2014 Dodge RAM pick up truck which was taken from a Charlottetown residence sometime between Monday Dec 17th at 11:00am and Tuesday Dec 18th 8:00pm.
At the time of the theft, the vehicle was bearing PEI license plate HPJ. Charlottetown Police Services Street Crime Unit has laid charges in connection with the armed robbery that occurred at the Capital Convenience and Smoke Shop on November 28th 2018.
The armed robbery prompted Police to issue a media release with video asking the public for assistance in identifying the male suspect.
A 23 year old Emyvale man has been charged with one count of armed robbery contrary to section 343(d) of the Criminal Code of Canada and one count of wearing a mask while committing an offence contrary to section 353(2).
The accused has been released from custody with conditions and will appear in Provincial Court at a later date.
