Assault with a Weapon – Charges Laid

As part of their ongoing investigation into a December 23, 2018, disturbance outside the Extreme Ink tattoo shop, the Charlottetown Police service’s “Major Crime Unit” have arrested and charged a third suspect.

Today a 49 year old Charlottetown man was arrested and charged for Assault with a Weapon contrary to section 267(a) of the Criminal Code of Canada and Mischief contrary to section 430(4)(a) of the Criminal Code of Canada.

The accused was released from custody on conditions and will appear in court to answer to the charges on February 7th, 2019.

No additional charges are expected in relation to this case.

Charlottetown Police Services have arrested several repeat offenders over the last week laying dozens of new charges. These offenders are well known to Police and have significant criminal records.

Eight offenders were arrested, seven males and one female, a total of 78 charges were laid. Six of the eight accused’s have been remanded in custody, the other two have been released on conditions. All will appear in court at a later date.

On January 3rd 2019, a 25 year old Charlottetown female was arrested on an outstanding warrant. She was remanded in custody and will appear in court at a later date. The accused is facing a total of 15 charges, which include: Fraudulent use of a credit card, Theft under $5000, Assault, Breach of Probation (7 counts), Fail to comply with an Undertaking and Fail to attend court (4 counts). The accused has a total of 48 criminal code convictions on her record.

On January 3rd 2019, a 40 year old Charlottetown male was arrested on an outstanding warrant. He was remanded in custody and will appear in court at a later date. The accused is facing a total of 6 charges, which include: Breach of Probation (4 counts), Fail to comply with an Undertaking and Fail to attend court. The accused has a total of 66 criminal code convictions on his record.

On January 4th 2019, a 22 year old Charlottetown male was arrested on several charges. He was remanded in custody and will appear in court at a later date. The accused is facing a total of 22 charges, which include: Break and Enter, Possession of Stolen Property (2 counts), Theft Under $5000 (5 counts), Fraudulent use of a credit card, Breach of Probation (8 counts) and Fail to comply with an Undertaking (5 counts). The accused has a total of 6 criminal code convictions on his record.

On January 4th 2019, a 39 year old Charlottetown male was arrested on several charges. The accused was released from custody with conditions imposed by the Provincial Court and will appear in court at a later date. The accused is facing a total of 2 charges, which include: Possession of Stolen Property and Breach of Probation. The accused has a total of 98 criminal code convictions on his record.

On January 8th 2019, a 34 year old Charlottetown male was arrested on several charges. He was remanded in custody and will appear in court at a later date. The accused is facing a total of 10 charges, which include: Theft Under $5000 (2 counts), Mischief Under $5000, Breach of Probation (3 counts), Fail to comply with an Undertaking (3 counts) and Trespass at Night. The accused has a total of 101 criminal code convictions on his record.

On January 8th 2019, a 23 year old Charlottetown male was arrested on several charges. He was released from custody with conditions and will appear in Provincial Court at a later date. The accused is facing a total of 2 charges, which include: Theft Under $5000 and Breach of Probation. The accused has a total of 17 criminal code convictions on his record.

On January 8th 2019, a 42 year old Charlottetown male was arrested on several charges. He was remanded in custody and will appear in court at a later date. The accused is facing a total of 13 charges, which include: Fraudulent use of a credit card (4 counts), Breach of Probation (5 counts) and Possession of Stolen Property (4 counts). The accused has a total of 10 criminal code convictions on his record.

On January 8th 2019, a 36 year old Ontario male was arrested on several charges. He was remanded in custody and will appear in court at a later date. The accused is facing a total of 8 charges, which include: Theft of a motor vehicle, Flight from Police, Dangerous Driving, Prohibited Driving, Possession of Stolen Property (2 counts), Theft Under $5000 (2 counts). The accused has a total of 86 criminal code convictions on his record.

Charlottetown Police Services Major Crime Unit has laid several charges in a recent domestic violence case.

The female victim came forward on Friday reporting a history of abuse between her and her husband. The investigation has led to a 31 year old Charlottetown man being charged with two counts of assault, one count of sexual assault and one count of uttering threats.

The accused has been remanded in custody and will appear in Provincial Court at a later date.

While on routine patrol at 2:15am Sunday Morning, Police were met by an oncoming vehicle travelling in the wrong direction on Kent Street.

The vehicle pulled into a parking area where Police conducted a traffic stop. The vehicle driver displayed signs of impairment by alcohol.

A 21 year old Charlottetown man was charged with refusal under section 254(5) of the criminal code of Canada. The accused will appear in Provincial Court at a later date.

As the result of an ongoing investigation by the Charlottetown Police “Major Crime Unit”, a 35 year old Miltonvale Park resident has been arrested and charged in relation to a significant Fraud.

The accused is alleged to have defrauded his employer of a significant quantity of cash between 2016 and 2018.The accused has been charged with Fraud over $5,000.00 contrary to section 380 (1)(a) of the Criminal Code of Canada.The accused will appear in court to answer to the charge on February 25th, 2019.
