Charlottetown Police Services are warning the public that counterfeit $50.00 and $100.00 bills have been circulating in the Charlottetown area recently.

All the counterfeit $100.00 bills identified in this recent rash have serial # FKC1034330, while the $50.00 bills have serial # AMF3489436.

This particular run of counterfeit bills does contain the transparent security panel, however close examination of the bill will show this transparent strip is actually a piece of clear tape applied to the bill as opposed to being part of the actual bill itself.

Merchants and the general public are asked to be extra vigilant when accepting $50.00 and $100.00 bills during cash transactions.

Any person who suspects they are being presented with a counterfeit bill or who has already accepted a counterfeit bill is asked to contact the Charlottetown Police Services at 902-629-4172.
