Charlottetown Police Services responded to 120 calls for service between Friday evening and Monday morning.

Various complaints were received such as Assaults, Traffic Collisions, Thefts, Suspicious Persons/vehicles, Mental Health Act, Municipal By-Laws, Liquor Control Act and Breach of the Peace.

A total of 11 individuals were lodged at the Provincial Correctional Centre for Breach of the Peace Offence, 7 of which were during the Saturday night shift.

Jordan and Samantha, cousins from Nova Scotia have chosen careers focused on helping the public and have ended up working on PEI.

Jordan is a paramedic working with Island EMS and Samantha is a Police Officer working with Charlottetown Police Services.  Both take pride in what they do and are committed to their duties as first responders.

Charlottetown Police Services are looking for public assistance in locating a vehicle that fled the scene of an accident.

The collision occurred at approximately 11:15 pm on Saturday July 13th at the intersection of the Arterial Highway and St Perters Road.

The vehicle that fled is believed to be a Silver Kia Rondo and would have passenger side damage from the collision.

The vehicle was last seen turning into the Hillsborough Park area.

Charlottetown Polices Services responded to an domestic violence complaint during the early morning hours of Saturday July 13th.

As a result, a 33 year old Charlottetown male has been charged with Assault.  The accused was brought before the Courts, an Emergency Protection Order was granted and the accused was released on an Undertaking given to a Justice of the Peace with conditions to have no contact with the victim.

The accused will appear in Provincial Court at a later date.

Charlottetown Police Services responded to a Robbery complaint that occurred yesterday at 11:45 am at the business Boom Boom Embroidery located at 120 Prince Street.

Patrol Officers with the assistance of the Street Crime and Major Crime units conducted the investigation that led to the arrest of a 24 year old Green Meadows female.

Several other unrelated charges were also laid in connection to recent theft files that occurred over the last few days.  The accused will appear in Court for a remand hearing this afternoon.

Charlottetown Police Services charged two individuals with impaired operation of a motor vehicle in separate occurrences overnight.

At approximately 1:15 am, Police responded to a report of an intoxicated female driving in the area of Lapthorne Avenue.  Police located the vehicle and determined that the driver was impaired by alcohol.  A 49 year old Toronto female has been charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle and will appear in Provincial Court at a later date.

At approximately 2:10 am, while on Patrol, Police located a vehicle that was driving erratically on St Peters Road and performed a traffic stop.  The Officer noticed signs of impairment and arrested the driver.  A 23 year old Dunstaffnage male has been charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle and will appear in Provincial Court at a later date.

Charlottetown Police Services assisted Toronto Police in locating and arresting a 79 year old male in relation to two (2) historical sexual assaults that occurred in Ontario in 1978-1979.
The accused was located and arrested at his Charlottetown residence on July 8th.
The accused has been remanded in custody at Sleepy Hollow Correctional Centre.
Officers from the Toronto Police Service are travelling to Charlottetown and will be returning the accused to Toronto where he will answer the pending charges.

Charlottetown Police Services MCU (Major Crime Unit) have laid a charge in connection with a recent counterfeit file.

Last week Police warned the public of several complaints received where counterfeit $50 and $100 bills were passed at local Charlottetown businesses.

A 24 year old Green Meadows female has been charged with Uttering Counterfeit Money under section 452 of the Criminal Code of Canada.  She will appear in Provincial Court at a later date.

The investigation into several other files is ongoing and may result in other charges.

Merchants and the general public are asked to be extra vigilant when accepting $50.00 and $100.00 bills during cash transactions.

Any person who suspects they are being presented with a counterfeit bill or who has already accepted a counterfeit bill is asked to contact the Charlottetown Police Services at 902-629-4172.
